    According to press reports John Singh and his Miss Tourism World have been able to fool government officials in Tanzania into parting with millions of dollars to host his notorious Miss Tourism World 2009 Con test, that assembles Model and go-go dancers who then masquerade as National beauty queens for the purposes of deceiving the host nation and gullible Governments into believing they are hosting a prestigious International beauty contest, in fact the only prestigious thing about Miss Tourism World and the content is the prestigious and generous sums of money John Singh seems to be able to convince 3rd world buffoons and tourism authorities to part with as hosting fees.

    His contest has over the several years that it has been held offered no tangible or evident tourism promotional opportunities or benefits to the host nations, none of the main stream pageant website forums or blogs give or have given any coverage what so ever to Miss Tourism World, as a contest it is simply seen as the biggest joke in pageantry! And if you even mention Miss Tourism world you will literally be laughed off a board.

    It leaves only debts, law suits, girls who are never paid prizes, and a two week long sexual escapade with the contestants for his entourage who sample the girls in their brand of pre-judging and demand to be housed in 5 star luxury at the host countries expense.
    Case in point Miss Tourism World in Antalya Turkey 2007 where he assembled 57 Models and go-go dancers and handed out titles from all his pageants in one night, making a mockery of his statement as the largest organizer of beauty pageants in the world.

    No doubt John Singh will be laughing all the way to the bank again, whist the almost bankrupt Govt government of Tanzania is left to ponder what hit them, so the big CON ....test continues......mean while tourism officials in Kyrgyzstan did their home work, got wise found out about him and his company and put a stop to his charade and attempt to fleece them out of $3million, but it seems like the Tourism officials in Tanzania seem stuck on stupid, of fascinated by seeing White girls in bikinis parade in front of them .... your guess is as good as mine

    – Blonde, beautiful and lots of sex appeal, this girl reminds me of last years winner in Miss World, but this girl to me is far more amazing with that great body of hers and nice facial features with lots and lots of sex appeal which I already mentioned, and she by far has a good chance to win than any of the other candidates (my opinion)!! 10/10 beauty!! GOOD LUCK TO HER!!!

    Miss Colombia
    – People may say that the winner this year will be from countries away from South America or Central America but I think Latinas are more favoured in Mexico, there are wide verities of beauties from the Latin countries and most countries have their own particular look exp: Venezuelans!! You can almost tell a person from where they come from! Just by the way they look.

    3.
    Miss USA
    – This girl has to be one of the hot shots so far!! I can’t find anything wrong with her, she’s perfect this and that!! Mind me she is young and with lots of sex appeal!! She to me is mixed, with hints of Black American, Latina and Caucasian blood.

    4.
    Miss Russia
    - Blonde bomb shell, I think if she has a great stage presence she will be a semi-finalist for sure.

    5.
    Miss Venezuela
    – Another favourite of mine!! Lyndimar Carolina Jonaitis Escalona is this typical Venezuelan beauty that is striking and very queenly. I also have to, remark her long black hair!! It’s so silky and smooth!! It gives her that finishing touch my only advice is not to turn her to last years miss Venezuela, which was a disaster.

    6.
    Miss Norway
    – has great potential also with wonderful facial beauty, oozing with sex appeal, I just hope she has trimmed her body down since her debt in Mutya in the Philippines.
    7.
    Miss Dominican Rep.
    – amazing type of beauty, nice eyes nice curvy body and judging by the pictures she looks like a very happy person, hope she gets noticed among the other Latin beauties.

    8.
    Miss Costa Rica
    – With her great even tan, nice face, great body why not put her up her!!

    9.
    Miss Poland
    – Well what can I say another blonde beauty, she is like Miss Russia & Miss Slovak Rep. in many ways maybe their related!

    10.
    Miss Philippines
    – At last she has made my list, a couple of weeks ago I wouldn’t have put her up here but she has rocketed up my list so fast after her send-off photos, she has that vibrancy like no other, and she defines what a Filipina beauty is, some people may not agree of me putting her up because I’m a Filipino but she has won me over, I would make excuses “not” to put her up here, but I just couldn’t after her recent pictures, I hope she can make it this year with the most competitive group the P’s.

    La Mis Universo Paraguay, Lourdes Arévalos, quien fue elegida tercera princesa en el certamen mundial, fue víctima de un resbalón que produjo su caída en plena pasarela en la segunda noche del Asunción Fashion Week, que se desarrolla en el hotel Sheraton.

    La reina paraguaya pasó por un momento muy difícil al sufrir el accidente laboral, pero rápidamente logró reponerse y al recuperar la sonrisa, ya nuevamente de pie fue aplaudida y continuó con el desfile.

    Los pasos de Lourdes eran impecables al comienzo mientras se desplazaba a lo largo de la pasarela luciendo un vestido color champán, unas medias negras, pero con expresión del rostro muy serio. Sin embargo, unos tacones tipo aguja le jugaron una mala pasada, perdió el equilibro y su cuerpo esbelto se desplomó al suelo, quedando con las piernas abiertas y al aire.

    Lourdes intentó levantarse sola inmediatamente, pero no consiguió en el tiempo deseado. En ese instante unos jóvenes que presenciaban el desfile se acercaron a ella para auxiliarla. La Miss se puso de pie, se arregló el vestido y el cabello y con total naturalidad terminó su pasada en medio de aplausos de la numerosa concurrencia.

    I have to say overall, am always impressed with the ladies from European countries. Some of my favorite contestants have been from European countries, and not just winners. Obviously Angela Visser was just exquisit, but the Netherlands has also sent other great delegates, Vivian Jansen was one of my favorites. Finland has always impressed me with their contestants, going all the way back to Aosa Marie Luvdahl, and of course in 96 Lola Odersoga. I'm still amazed that Finland has only won once. In the beginning of the pagent, they had quite a few close calls to getting their second crown, and now a chance seems to come about every decade. I really hope I spelt these names correctly, I know Aosa's has a round circle over the A instead of ao, just can't find the symbol. Then there was Louise Drevenstam from Sweden, same year as Aosa in 89. I love Scandanavia. I'm still waiting for Germany to get back in the game, as Andrea Steltzer was great, but from what I read she represented South Africa first, so not sure where she was originally from.

    What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?
    My interests include reading, watching movies, going to the beach, spending time with my family and friends, charity work, and God. One of my biggest passions is sports, whether it be playing or just watching.

    Name one person other than your parents who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
    My oldest brother Mario. Growing up with him being 7 years my senior, I always wanted to do what he was doing, which is how I got started in soccer. I strived to be as smart as him and as well-read about the world as him. He was always the person I looked upon to set standards for myself.

    What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
    My career ambition is to become a respected sports reporter and have my own production company and produce documentaries. Thankfully becoming Miss Panama has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of people in the field of communications and has opened some doors for me. I plan on using this as a stepping stone and will continue to work hard and persevere to gain the respect of my peers and audience in order to accomplish my goals.

    Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
    My childhood took place in Miami, Florida, where I was raised for 11 years. It was an amazing upbringing. There was never a dull moment in my household of my parents and two olders brothers and me. I grew up in a suburb called Kendall where people from all over Latin America lived. My time was divided between school, the soccer field and church. Someone always had an activity, a practice or a game, so we never ran out of things to do!

    What makes you unique and different from the other contestants?
    My appearance, which is a combination of cultures (something that characterizes Panamanians), and my personality because I am shy, yet quirky and spontaneous.

    FIORELLA CASTELLANOS es una peruana con todas las de la ley, de 19 ańos y 1.83 de estatura y original de Lima, la capital de Perú, va con todas las fuerzas a Sanya, China, a obtener la corona de Miss Mundo 2005. Castellanos ha estudiado producción de televisión en la "Cologne University" en Alemania y actualmente además de fungir como Miss Mundo Perú 2005 a tiempo completo, se desempeńa como modelo profesional.

    Desde que fue elegida como la nueva soberana de la belleza peruana para el Miss Mundo 2005, Fiorella ha marcado pautas en los certámenes de belleza. Recordemos que esta chica participó por vez primera en Miss Perú 2004 cuando tenía apenas 17 ańos y sorprendió a todos cuando clasificó como primera finalista. Luego Fiorella lo intenta de nuevo en el Miss Perú 2005 y aquí obtiene la corona de Miss Mundo Perú 2005, lo que le asegura su pase a la gran final de Miss Mundo a efectuarse el próximo 10 de Diciembre en la isla de Sanya en China.


    A esto se le suma sus experiencias vividas en en el Miss Tourism Queen International 2005 también celebrado en China y en la más reciente edición de Reina Sudamericana en Bolivia donde obtuvo la honrosa clasificación de segunda finalista.


    Fiorella es un caudal de talentos, es una candidata que ha evolucionado, que ha aprendido paso a paso y lo más importante es que se ha visto el cambio. Ahora Fiorella sabe a donde va y que resultados esperar. Es una mujer segura, carismática, simpática, inteligente y muy trabajadora y lo ha demostrado ante todos los peruanos. Sin lugar a dudas Fiorella está decidida a hacer historia en su país. żPor qué no traer la corona de Miss Mundo 2005 de vuelta al Perú? Ese es el sueńo de Miss Mundo Perú 2005 y es el anhelo de todo un pueblo que la apoya y la quiere en todo momento.



    Fiorella, żQué nos puede decir en este momento sobre su preparación para el Miss Mundo 2005 a celebrarse en China en Diciembre 10?



    Actualmente me encuentro en pleno entrenamiento para el Miss Mundo. Estoy preparándome en todo sentido, tanto en el físico como en las obras benéficas a las que he apoyado. Estoy llevando clases de pasarela, de imagen, de postura, incluso estoy preparándome para la prueba de talento, donde pienso tocar un poco de cajón peruano y darle un toque de zapateo. Previo a eso estuve llendo a un desfile benéfico en Santo Domingo por los nińos pobres de República Dominicana, el desfile se llamó Belleza por una Causa. También acabo de participar en el Reina Sudamericana en donde clasifiqué como 2da finalista y finalmente viajo a China dentro de una semana donde será el Miss Mundo.




    żPor qué decidió volver a participar en Miss Perú? żQué la motivó?


    Soy una chica muy competitiva y me gusta ganar, sin embargo al principio no estaba dentro de mis planes volver a intentarlo, puesto que me encontraba estudiando en Alemania, pero al venir de vacaciones en el verano, me propusieron el volver a probar. Realmente me motivaron mucho y como me había quedado con las ganas del ańo pasado, pues le puse mucho énfasis y ganas y lo volví a intentar, con mejores resultados esta vez.



    żCuál es su trayectoria en el modelaje y en los concursos de belleza?


    Bueno desde chica siempre me decía la gente que de grande podría ser modelo, porque desde nińa fui muy alta y delgada, a mi la verdad no me llamaba mucho la atención ese tema sin embargo mi madre siempre me motivó y me apoyó en ese aspecto. A los trece ańos me inscribí en el Perú Model Scouting y en la noche final fui seleccionada por tres firmas muy importantes extranjeras, como la agencia Ford y la agencia Elite. Desde ahí me empezó a agradar más este mundo y me empezaron llamar para desfiles, eventos y pasarelas y el resto es historia.



    żQué es lo más extraordinario que ha ocurrido en su vida?


    Definitivamente haber ganado el Miss Perú, el ir por diferentes lugares del mundo y que la gente te diga, Perú! Perú! Perú!, recorrer mi país y que sepan tu nombre, te reconozcan y no es llevar la corona, sino el nombre de mi país, es algo indescriptible.







    żCómo se describe Fiorella Castellano en su vida diaria?


    Soy una persona muy sencilla y muy alegre. Siempre estoy rodeada de gente, porque no me gusta estar sola. Tengo muchos amigos y el conocer gente es algo que suelo hacer a diario.


    Actualmente estoy entrenando por ello es que mi vida diaria ahora es algo monótona, por lo mismo que llevo haciendo, mis clases a diario y todo lo que envuelve estar bien entrenada y preparada. Sin embargo mi carácter y mi manera de ser nunca varía y así es como debe ser.



    żCuáles son sus expectativas en el Miss Mundo 2005?


    Dar lo mejor de mi y quedar mínimo en el top 5, luchar obviamente por retener la corona y que siga en nuestro país, esa es mi meta.



    żCómo debe prepararse una reina de belleza?


    Una reina de belleza tiene que ser una chica muy responsable, madura y tiene que mantenerse pulcra en todo momento. No es fácil, pero el ser una reina uno debe tener en cuenta que representa a la mujer y que al mismo tiempo al país mismo. Cuidar mucho la imagen es fundamental y mantenerse actualizada en todo momento.



    żQué abarca ser Miss Perú Mundo 2005, cuáles son sus responsabilidades con la organización Reinas del Perú?


    El ser Miss Perú Mundo es la responsabilidad más grande que me han dado, porque abarca todo, soy ahora del Perú, ya dejé de ser Fiorella. Ahora soy la imagen de mi país.


    Mi responsabilidad como Miss Perú conlleva que soy la imagen de la organización de Reinas del Perú, mi responsabilidad máxima es asistir y cumplir con todas las actividades que se me presentan y sobre todo las benéficas, sociales, coronaciones de nuevas reinas, entre otras cosas, en conciliación mi responsabilidad es llevar una buena imagen a todas las jóvenes y adolescentes de mi país.


    żQué cambiarías en este momento del mundo contemporáneo en el que vivimos?


    Cambiaría la ambición de la gente. Hoy en día para las personas lo primordial es el dinero y eso lamentablemente nos ha causado mucho problemas y guerras, dejando de lado lo que son los valores de cada uno, siendo eso invalorable y lo más importante.



    Si tuvieras a todo tu país frente a ti, żque le dirías?


    Nosotros como país tenemos algo que muchos otros envidian y es la voluntad que poseemos por el trabajo. Nosotros día a día nos levantamos a buscar empleo y si no corremos con suerte salimos a las calles a vender caramelos, con tal de ganar algo para que los hijos y la familia coma. Eso seńores es algo único nuestro, me siento muy orgullosa de ello. Nosotros vamos creciendo y lo seguiremos haciendo si todos nos unimos y le ponemos mas fuerza.

    EDITORIAL




    CRITICAL BEAUTY celebrates its first anniversary on October 1st. I can't believe a year has gone by! I distinctly remember the mixed emotions that I felt when I launched CB last October. Anguish because The Miss Universe Critic has left for good. Anxiety because I didn't know how the readers would react to the changes. Excitement because I was longing to experiment with new ideas. And elation because my passion for beauty and pageants has not expired.

    To the loyal followers of this site, you are already familiar with its format, structure, and potentially hazardous content. To the netizens who have discovered this site for the first time, add this site to your favorites because you will not find another site that discusses pageants with a critical eye.


    As I write this editorial, a new Miss Venezuela has just been crowned and she happens to be mulata. I foresee discussions in pageant message boards referring to her dark features, her unusual name, and her preparations for next year's Miss Universe. What is she going to look like? Will she have bleached her skin? Will she be dethroned and replaced by a blonde?


    When I was at the Post Office yesterday to mail some pageant videos, Hector called me on my cellphone to tell me that Cynthia Olavarría is suing Magali Febles for breach of contract. Is Febles on her way out? Will MUO finally stop believing everything this woman says? Gosh, I hope so! The Puerto Rican pageant system is now an endangered species. Bring back Ana Santisteban's spirit!


    Meanwhile, Miss International is going on in Tokyo. Ah, the Japanese! Such purists! They have been holding the pageant for nearly forty years and they have never bothered dumping the restrictive cushioned crown (uhhh... I hope the cushion is steamed or replaced for the successor) for a more elegant one. The only thing that is changing seems to be the preference of the largely Japanese jury: now they like Far Eastern beauties even more. Will Osmel send a chinita in 2007?


    And if there weren't juicy items to talk about in the pageant world, would CB continue to exist? Hell, no! So please keep patronizing pageants, please hire more national directors like Magali, please send fugly contestants to major contests, please continue bashing undeserved winners, and please send candidates to strange and sleazy pageants like Miss Tourism World or Miss Planet. And that darn book of mine, will it ever be finished? Of course, as long as you guys keep yappin' and whinin' and bitchin'! CB means Critical Bomb.
