 A contestant has to live in the surrounding parishes like Livingston (I think) St. Tammany and Tangipahoa (where Ponchatoula is). As it said in the Ponchatoula newspaper, the board members were thrilled to have a local Ponchatoula girl this year because it has been a few years since someone from Ponchatoula represented them.
