When upgrading, you can simply overwrite the old version with the new, and it will work without going through the setup process again. The one (possibly negative, possibly positive) side-effect this may have is that unless you have overridden the default settings for cborder and iorder, if any of the feeds you are displaying have images, dates or authors in them, they'll start getting displayed. Whether that's good or bad depends, of course, on whether you want those things displayed or not.
