I Used the "bi" and "ai" (before item, after item) options kind of like this to put spaces after each item. The result is the link/title, a line break, the author info, and then some extra space below the author because of the slightly expanded margin. Maybe not the most elegant solution, but it works. If you just wanted to put two breaks in a row where you wanted the space, you could do that too, or just set each item within a paragraph.

CarpConf('bilink','');
CarpConf('ailink','put a break here');
CarpConf('biauthor','In a div tag, set the style to have an extra wide margin*');
CarpConf('aiauthor','the end div tag goes here');

//[div style="margin-bottom: 0.8em"]
