Apply hand lotion and begin to massage the palm of your hand with the thumb of your other hand. This will help to circulate the blood. Work your way over the remainder of the hand and then repeat giving equal time to the other hand. Before color is applied to nails, they must be cleaned and the easiest way to do this is with an orange stick that has been wrapped with cotton. Dip into nail polish remover and then rub over the surface of the nail. Check the nail for any creamy residue. When none remains, your nails will be ready for polishing. Time for color. Pick up a small amount of polish on your brush and paint one stroke down the center of your nail. Your brush should hold just enough color to accomplish this. Stroke the sides of the nail and you are done. The nail should be completely colored in three strokes. Allow to set for a minute or so before applying the second coat. Wait until polish is set (dry to the touch) and then apply the top coat. Don't skip this step as it not only adds life to your manicure, it will protect your nails as well. Sanitize all of your equipment with alcohol and when they are dry, store them away until the next manicure. Nail Tips: Nail polish can be stored in the fridge. If your nail polish is too thick, try thinning with a polish thinner. To prevent the cap from sticking, coat it with a little Vaseline to prevent this from happening. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/nailcare.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/nailcare.html</a>

Track For You(odo2210) -- mehmood, 04:28:55 11/25/08 Tue [1]

Reward yourself regularly, (don't use food as a reward) buy a new outfit, get a new hair style, even if it's just a grin of approval in the mirror. Don't weigh yourself every day. Instead, get on the weight scales once a week to avoid discouragement.
Instead of obsessing over your weight, keep track of your waist measurement, body fat percentage or clothing size. Have 2 pieces of clothing to help you track your progress. ! that's way too tight and one that fits perfectly at the start of your diet. Try them on every 4 weeks. Create a small graph like the one below with one line that shows your weekly target progress and the other that shows your actual progress. Make your target progress very realistic, say 1lb a week so that you can easily exceed it and keep highly motivated.. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/trackforyou.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/trackforyou.html</a>

Reduce Varicose Veins(ODO2210) -- mehmood, 12:36:51 11/20/08 Thu [1]

High collars shortens necks. Tight tops with short sleeves and breast pocket is detracting from your figure. Shoes with straps shortens your legs. The torso can be shortened or narrowed with seam lines, belts, bows, and collars. A short necklace can shorten your neck. A scarf or belt that hangs down toward the legs will make the legs appear longer. Knitted texture, lace, floras, prints, and plaids can assist in creating an illusion. Thicker vertical lines in plaids lengthens and slims. Wear a larger print where you want people to look and smaller print where you do not want them to look. An all over print can camouflage figure problems, but prints here and there can create a fuller you. Prints around the neck and over the shoulder can make your shoulders appear wider. Just wear prints near the parts of your figure's assets, because they are usually more eye catching than a solid color. When buying pants be sure they fit well. Defects are emphasized in a pair of pants that may go unnoticed in a skirt. Petite women. Petite women need to keep clothes in line, slim narrow belts. A slight contrast in colors and fitted lines will flatter you endlessly. Also stay with fabrics that are soft and flowing that fits well. Over powering prints should be avoided. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/fashionforyou.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/fashionforyou.html</a>

How to speed up metabolism .(ODS25462) -- Tahir Ahmed, 12:59:25 09/25/08 Thu [1]

Don't skip breakfast. You will lose weight more quickly if you have a bite to eat in the morning. Drink hot water with lemon Eat hot meals rather than cold. Your metabolism speeds up very slightly when you eat and again if the food is hot. Do at least thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercise, five days a week. This will condition you to burn fat more efficiently. Don't deprive your body of carbohydrates, no matter what they say.
You need carbs for energy and will feel terrible without them. Wear a pedometer and see that you take 1,000 steps every day. If you have a sit-down job, get up every hour and walk around for five minutes or so. Dedicate two hours a week to weight training, concentrating on the larger muscles. Every other day is optimal. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/spendupmetabolism.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/spendupmetabolism.html</a>

How to Eat kwsfs-196 -- faisal sana, 02:56:07 09/13/08 Sat [1]

Limit yourself to no more than two servings of red meat per week. Make sure that no more than a quarter of your calories comes from fat. Cook your own meals at home and avoid eating at restaurants as much as possible. Eat six to eleven servings of complex carbohydrates (fruits and whole grain breads, pasta and cereals), but avoid white flour when possible. Don't go crazy on the protein. Too much doesn't add muscle, contrary to popular belief. It just turns to fat. Boycott mayonnaise and butter (or margarine). Get them out of your refrigerator. Learn to live without them. Don't be afraid to try low or reduced fat versions of your favorite foods. You may actually like them better when you don't feel guilty eating them. Stay away from energy bars, which imply that they will transform you into a fit person. Most of them are loaded with calories. Make your own smoothies. Those made commercially usually contain fattening syrups, but your home-made smoothies (without the gunk) are very healthy. Use all the garlic, oregano, etc. that you want. Eating healthy doesn't mean you can't pack your food with flavor. Pack a sandwich made with whole-grain bread for lunch. Breads with high fibre make you feel fuller than white bread. Get at least 25 grams of fibre every day. Not only does it ward off disease, but it actually blocks the absorption of calories. Don't be fooled by "fat free" labels. Many of these foods contain a lot of sugar, which eventually turns into fat anyway.
Don't fall into the "it's okay to eat chicken" trap. The Crispy Chicken and Filet o' Fish sandwiches at McDonalds each contain more than twice the fat of a McDonald's hamburger. If you need whipped cream, whip up chilled evaporated skim milk - your creation will contain only half a gram of fat per cup. Use extra water in hot cereals to reduce the amount of milk and butter you use. Use seasoned rice vinegar on salads and veggies. It tastes similar to oil and vinegar, but is is fat-free and has very few calories. Cook rice in a mixture of half water, half fruit juice to give it subtle flavor without butter and salt. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/howtoeat.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/howtoeat.html</a>

How to speed up metabolism (ws2436) -- salmanmarfatiya, 06:41:26 08/21/08 Thu [1]

Hands beauty care your nails. (OD5012) -- Naveed Akhtar, 10:41:03 07/27/08 Sun [1]

How to Eat(WS2124) -- Husnain, 15:21:46 07/14/08 Mon [1]

The day you arrive in Canada Customs and immigration (es18) -- sumbla, 11:13:58 06/28/08 Sat [1]

You will probably find the entry procedure fairly straightforward because you have a passport and other essential documents

You will be interviewed by a Canada Customs officer. You will need to give the officer a list of all the household and personal items that you will be bringing into Canada.

You should also show the immigrant visa to the customs officer, who will refer you to an immigration officer.

The immigration officer will check your visa and travel documents and ask you questions similar to those on the Immigrant Application Form, to verify that you are of good character and in good health.

At this time, you may also be asked to show proof of your funds. If there are no difficulties, the officer will authorize your entry to Canada as a permanent resident by signing your Record
of Landing or Confirmation of Permanent Residence.

If you arrive at one of the major Canadian airports, you will get a booklet called Welcome to Canada: What You Should Know.

It has information on most aspects of life in Canada. It also provides addresses and telephone numbers for:

immigrant-serving organizations acrossCanada;

language training assessment centres(which help eligible adult newcomers find free language classes);

useful federal and provincial government offices.

Finding a Job, building a future in Canada (ES18) -- sumbla, 17:11:56 06/26/08 Thu [1]

In Canada, full-time jobs are common. However, a growing number of people have part-time or short-term jobs.

Women make up a large portion of the work force and many have important, senior positions.

Canadians may change jobs and careers several times. This is often a personal choice.

Sometimes people must change jobs because the economy changes. For these, and other reasons, getting a job is not easy. Many people are looking for work.

Newcomers to Canada rarely enter the job market quickly and often must start with jobs
below the skill level they worked at in their home country.

Once they have Canadian job experience and their ability in English or French improves, so do their job prospects.

How you improved your Language skills in living in Canada: (es18) -- sumbla, 05:02:36 06/26/08 Thu [1]

It is important to learn English or French as quickly as possible.

Many newcomers begin life in Canada by looking for a job that will allow them to learn or improve their English or French.

The Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program gives eligible adult immigrants the chance to take basic English or French classes at no charge

People with foreign credentials need a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score to enter Canadian colleges and universities.Colleges and universities offering courses in French use various French language tests.

Regulated occupations in Canada usually require many years of education, training and practical experience, and the successful completion of a technical examination. Technical examinations to enter a trade or profession can be very expensive. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://settlementincanada.50webs.com/language.htm">http://settlementincanada.50webs.com/language.htm</a>

Be healthy and enjoy the life.(WS3535) -- Asad, 12:34:12 06/07/08 Sat [1]

Shake your Body!
Every day find new ways to move your body. Use the stairs rather than an escalator or elevator. Walk your dog (or a neighbours' dog if you don't have one!) , chase your kids, play ball with friends, mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it's a stress buster. Think 'move' in small increments of time. It doesn't have to be an hour in the gym or a 45-minute cardiovascular class or body pump or kickboxing. Move more and feel better!
Cut the Fat
Don't eat the obvious fat in your diet such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats. Eat dairy products like cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts and even then in their low fat verions. Most are available in lower fat versions.
Reduce Stress
Stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e., go back to number one above!, exercise is a great stress reducer, Soak in a hot tub; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your dog; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie. Get a massage, a facial or a haircut. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possible. Stop Smoking
All the experts agree on this one. Ever since 1960 when it was announced that smoking was harmful to your health, people have been reducing their use of tobacco products. Just recently, we've seen a surge in smoking in adolescents and teens. Warn your children of the false romance or 'tough guy' image of smokers. Find ways to quit smoking hypnosis, support groups and even prescription medicine such as Zyban is available to help you.
Reduce your exposure to Pollution
Not everyone can live in a smog-free environment, but we can all avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing in highway fumes and exercising near busy thoroughfares. Exercise outside when the smog rating is low. Exercise indoors in air conditioning where air quality is good. Plant lots of shrubbery in your yard. It's a good pollution deterrent. If you ride a bicycle in traffic, where a small pollution mask over your mouth and nose.
Clunk Click every Trip
Statistics show that the wearing of seat belts add to longevity and help alleviate potential injuries in car crashes.
Floss Your Teeth
Harvard Medical School studied longevity and found one of the most important contributing factors was daily flossing! Flossing and brushing your teeth daily can make your RealAge as much as 6.4 years younger. These studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody knows exactly why. Perhaps it's because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don't?
Maintain a Positive Mental Outlook
There's a definitive connection between living well and healthily and having a cheerful outlook on life. Yes, keep on smiling and laughing!
Pick Your Parents Well !
The link between genetics and health is a powerful one. You can't pick your parents, but just because one or both of your parents died young in ill health doesn't mean you can't counteract the genetic pool handed you. So follow the first 9 tips above. for more details visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.nikharearab.com/toptentips.html">http://www.nikharearab.com/toptentips.html</a>

What to do about brittle nails.(WS3535) -- Asad, 13:56:05 06/06/08 Fri [1]

The most common nail wreckers are harsh detergents and water, which can stress nail fibers. So be sure to put rubber gloves on while you clean or do dishes. Also, avoid using perfume lotions that usually contain alcohol if your nails are brittle. It will only make your nails worse. It may be possible that your calcium intake is low, as well. How To Give Yourself A Manicure? Whether you prefer your nails to be long or short, they can still look stunning with a little know-how. Wash and dry your hands. Using a double-sided emery board, file nails using a gentle stroke. Avoid corners of your nails as this can weaken them. Begin to shape your nails. The most popular shape to use is oval, but choose what is most suited to your hand and finger shape. Check to see how well you have done. Run your nails over an old pair of pantyhose. Your nails should not snag the hose.
Apply a softener to your cuticles. Allow to site for a minute or so. Transfer hands to a bowl of warm water and soak for an additional few minutes. Gently push back the cuticles. This should not be painful. If hangnails are present, carefully clip them. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/nailcare.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/nailcare.html</a>

E-Bay auctions -- No name, 14:58:49 05/12/08 Mon [1]

<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZpageantroyalty">http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZpageantroyalty</a>

Disney Princess ~ Civil War ~ Renaissance

Handcrafted by a costumer that is both on-line and an E-Bay seller.
Additional alterations were made by a professional local seamstress to make this fit a small adult/teen that wears approximately 3/4 - 5/6 in street clothes.

Whether you are competing for the judges eye or just want to be the belle of the ball or the princess of the renaissance faire, you have to think outside the box.

Imagine this:
Cinderella: Her little furry and feathered friends whipped her gorgeous dress together from the old pink dress that she pulled from the trunk. The pink dress was so beautiful that her mean stepsisters tore it apart. This is the dress with the beautifully beaded bodice and sparkling lace that others will be envious of YOU for... (it is written nowhere that Cinderella always must where the second dress she had for the ball - the blue gown).

Aurora: While dancing with Prince Phillip, Sleeping Beauty's fairies couldn't agree on the "right" color gown she should be wearing as she gracefully swept across the floor with Phillip. Merryweather insisted it be sky blue, but Flora wanted pink. Both very beautiful colors.

Gorgeous...
Bright Coral Banu Paris Skirt Suit
Tag says 6, but was sized down a little by previous owner (Either way, please see the measurements below!). This suit has been worn two times, once by previous owner, once by my daughter for the pageant where this photo was taken. Nice, bright, shimmering material. Judges loved it and my daughter received many compliments on this. We really have no use for this at this time, so we need to let it go.

Don't let your competition get this one!

The skirt has a 28" waist, little over 20 1/2" long with a 1 1/2" hem/
Jacket is 17" shoulder seam to shoulder seam (back). 22 1/2" long shoulder seam to hem, the sleeves are 15 1/2" from the arm pit area to wrist hem and 22" from the shoulder seam to wrist hem.

I do believe this one will sell! It is gorgeous, it needs to go from my closet to someone winning in it!

Beautiful color! Clean and ready for competition!

Your first step in Canada. (OD2345) -- Faisal shehzad, 07:16:32 05/12/08 Mon [1]

You will probably find the entry procedure fairly straightforward because you have a passport and other essential documents.

Brief Information about Education Institutes of Canada (D378) -- tanveer khan, 06:50:10 04/09/08 Wed [1]

Try to stay open-minded and positive. Negative, rigid and inflexible attitudes decrease your ability to deal with the stresses of life and prevent you from enjoying yourself.

Get your zzz’s
Be sure to get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Fatigue can interfere with the information you have already stored and your ability to learn new things.

Beneficial B12
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to serious and irreversible physiological and psychological problems. Get your intake from foods of animal origin like meat, fish, eggs and dairy products.

Stress-free solutions
To combat stress, go outside for a brisk walk instead of smoking a cigarette. Reach for your running shoes instead of the TV remote or a chocolate bar. Regular physical activity (at least 30 minutes a day for most days of the week) and a healthy, balanced, low-fat diet will not only make you feel better but help you to better manage your stress.

Morning energy
Need a boost in the mornings? Time your coffeemaker so that the aroma of coffee coincides with your alarm. Sing in the shower. Use lotions with stimulating scents such as mint. Plan at least one fun thing to do each day. Eat breakfast. Listen to a radio station that makes you laugh – laughter is one of the best energizers around!

of Landing or Confirmation of Permanent Residence.

If you arrive at one of the major Canadian airports, you will get a booklet called Welcome to Canada: What You Should Know.

It has information on most aspects of life in Canada. It also provides addresses and telephone numbers for:

How you prevent your back ache (XXX) -- No name, 21:17:32 03/01/08 Sat [1]

Avoid any sudden strain. If you are going to have to bend in any way make sure that your back is not cold and stiff. Exercise regularly to loosen up the back and strengthen its supporting abdominal muscles. Stretching your back helps loosen it and prevent injury.
If you sit for long periods, make sure your back is properly supported. Place a small roll in the arch of your lower spine (at waist height) to maintain its normal S-curve. Simply a towel, or cushion rolled up will do.
When lifting, never bend down from the waist, lower and raise yourself at the knees. Keep your back straight and hold the object close to your body. If you are going to carry anything any distance that may be heavy, make sure that your way is clear. You do not want to be dodging around things when you are carrying.
Balance items you carry evenly on both sides of your body and hold them close or use a knapsack.
Sleep on your back if possible, with knees raised on a pillow. If you sleep on your side, a pillow between the knees is a big help.
If you need a firm bed, place a board between the mattress and the box spring.

Lower Back Pain
Eight out of ten Americans will experience a backache at some point. Back pain is the second most common reason for doctor visits in the U.S. The causes of lower back pain are numerous. Some of the more common causes of lower back pain are:
Sudden injury to the back such as may occur in an auto accident, fall, sports, or other manner.
Gynecological conditions such as endometriosis, menstrual cramps, fibroid tumors, and pregnancy are sometimes the cause of lower back pain in women.
Stress to the muscles, nerves, or ligaments in the lower back.
Certain jobs such as those that require repetitive movements, sitting in chairs that are not ergonomically proper for your back, or standing for long periods of time often increase back stress and cause lower back pain.
Arthritis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and other bone or joint diseases often cause lower back pain.
Not getting enough physical activity, being sedentary, or being overweight often stresses the lower back causing pain.
Slipped discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, aging, and infections are other common causes of lower back pain.
Smoking. More than 1300 physicians were followed from time of graduation (1948-1964) from John Hopkins University, some for over fifty years. The researchers found that smoking history, hypertension, and coronary artery disease (risk factors for atherosclerosis, occlusion of the arteries) are significantly associated with development of lower back pain.
Because there are so many causes of lower back pain, some serious such as spinal tumors, if you experience lower back pain see your health care provider for diagnosis. If your lower back pain is sudden and severe and it is not during your provider's office hours, go immediately to your local hospital emergency room.
Muscle Relaxants
Once the cause of your back pain has been been properly diagnosed, there are supplements to physical therapy and good posture that can help, such as skelatal muscle relaxants like Soma, Selaxin and Flexeril. Muscle relaxants such as Soma Selaxin and Flexeril are prescription medications that are used to treat pain caused by muscle spasms like muscle injuries, spasms, sprains, and strains. Skelaxin Soma Flexeril and other muscle relaxers are recommended as a supplement to physical therapy, rest, or other treatments your doctor may recommend, and will not replace these treatments. for more information visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.nikharearab.com/backacheprevention.html">http://www.nikharearab.com/backacheprevention.html</a>

Plastic photo protector info... Did You Know... -- Comps By Dan!, 16:38:25 01/17/08 Thu [1]

Did you know...

The plastic photo sleeves or plastic photo protectors that often leave so many pageant moms (or dads) up in arms when needed or where to get are actually called "Toploaders"? They come in many sizes including the most popular for pageants - 8.5 x 11" and the 8 x 10". Toploaders typed into your search engine should give you several places that you may be able to purchase them through, if you can do the bulk purchasing. TC Bulk is one of those places:
TC Bulk (toploaders) - <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.tcbulk.com/scripts/prodlist.asp?idcategory=4">http://www.tcbulk.com/scripts/prodlist.asp?idcategory=4</a>

The intent of this "Did you know" is to share info with others in our pageant family. HTH!

Looking for pageant comps/zeds/digital ports? Check out my always low prices on winning comps and ports!

ANMTC International Pageant -- No name, 17:56:12 10/28/07 Sun [1]

What are you waiting for? Reserve your state title today!

Take a look at our new photo gallery and see why girls are anxious to sign up for the 2008 International Finals!

<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.anmtcinternational.com/photogallery.html">http://www.anmtcinternational.com/photogallery.html</a>

The ANMTC International Miss Pageant is currently accepting application and awarding state titles for the 2008 International Pageant.

We invite you to take the opportunity to represent the YOUR STATE at the 2008 ANMTC International Finals. The 2008 ANMTC International Miss Pageant and America’s National Model & Talent Competition will be held, June 19th – 21st at the Doubletree Universal Studios Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Bring the entire family, and enjoy a fabulous vacation with us. The fun will begin on the very first day and will continue long after it is over! As a state representative, you will receive an official state crown and satin monogrammed banner, a set of tickets for you and your chaperone to the You Scream Ice Cream Pajama Party, the Costume Carnival Party and the Award’s Banquet. Each state representative will also receive a DVD of the pageant competition at no additional cost!

Who are we?

ANMCT Internationals is a national pageant system! The ANMTC International Miss Pageant and America’s National Model & Talent Competition are three competitions wrapped up into one weekend of fun called the ANMTC International Finals. Have you ever dreamed of becoming a model, discovered talent or winning the ultimate national pageant? If your answer is yes to any one of the three, then you don’t want to miss this fabulous weekend. Compete in just one, two or all three competitions! Industry professionals, model and talent scouts will be on hand looking for new and undiscovered models and talent. WE ARE NOT A MODELING SCHOOL HOPING TO SIGN YOU UP FOR CLASSES.

Is ANMTC International a pageant or a model/talent competition?

It’s both. However, each competition is separate. The ANMTC International Pageant is a program for those who are interested in competing in the Pageant Competition with great prizes to include $1500 in Cash to the overall division winners. Talent is not required for the pageant competition. There is also the America’s National Model and Talent Competition for those who are interested in modeling and showcasing their talents. The ANMTC International Finals is not a winner takes all program. There are many opportunities for you to win cash, prizes and call backs from agents.

Is experience required? Experience is not required. Our weekend starts with a FREE Pageant and Modeling Workshop.

How do I sign up? There are several girls in line awaiting this awesome opportunity; therefore, we can only extend this invitation for a limited time. GO ONLINE AND REGISTER TODAY! Visit www.anmtcintl.com and pay your $25 application fee. Our selection committee will review your application and will notify you of your acceptance within 10 business days. Soon after, you will receive the ANMTC International Magazine, an official guide to preparing for the upcoming competition. Your official state crown and banner will be shipped once we receive your initial deposit of 50% of your total sponsorship fee.

If you are seriously interested in taking this opportunity and need more time, call us right away! Our staff will be more than happy to work with you on setting your own personal deadlines. Just give us a call, get ready and get started today! Visit us online at www.anmtcintl.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drug dealers peddling new kid-friendly mixes
Meth, heroin laced with candy and strawberry flavoring to appeal to youth
The Associated Press
Updated: 2:42 p.m. CT May 8, 2007
DALLAS - In their quest to lure new, younger clientele, drug dealers are mixing their wares with over-the-counter pain remedies and other familiar products — even candy — and peddling them under non-threatening names.

One such concoction, a blend of black tar heroin and Tylenol PM that goes by the name “cheese,” has been linked to the deaths of 19 teenagers in Dallas, including two 15-year-olds.

“If you’re a drug dealer you have to target a new audience all the time,” said Garrison Courtney, a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency spokesman. “It’s Marketing 101 for drug dealers.”

Examples of the drug-mixing strategy also include candy laced with marijuana and, in several states, flavored methamphetamine. In Arkansas recently, a mix of meth and strawberry-flavored powder normally used to create a children’s milk drink turned up under the name “Strawberry Quick.”

“They’re calling it ‘cheese,’ they’re not calling it ‘heroin,”’ said Dr. Collin Goto, a toxicologist at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. “It becomes much more appealing to younger kids because it doesn’t have the stigma, they’re not as afraid to get started.”

Dallas school district police first became aware of the heroin-mixing trend in 2005, and its become a disturbing local phenomenon since.

“Cheese is just a different makeup for mixing with heroin, but it’s still heroin,” said Dr. Jeffrey Barnard, chief medical examiner for Dallas County. “It’s the heroin that’s the problem.”

Cheap and needle-free
Beyond the innocuous name, several other factors appear to be driving the popularity of cheese. Kids often buy the drug from other kids. It’s affordable, selling for about $2 a dosage. And it is snorted rather than injected.

During the 2005-2006 school year, the Dallas school district police arrested 90 students for possession of the heroin-Tylenol PM mixture. The number has soared during the current school year. Through February, 122 have been arrested. The average age of those arrested: 14.

“The resurgence of heroin in society in 11- to 16-year-olds — that’s unprecedented,” said Julian Bernal, deputy chief of narcotics for the Dallas police, who makes six to 12 arrests a month for possession of cheese heroin.

“Hopefully we can try to contain it,” said Dr. Sing-Yi Feng, another toxicologist at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. “The concern is that the stuff is pretty cheap. It’s easy to use.”

Experts say cheese usually has about 2 percent to 8 percent heroin mixed with the Tylenol PM — which contains acetaminophen and diphenhydramine — or similar over-the-counter drugs.

‘Cheese’ arrests rising
Gary Hodges, deputy chief of the Dallas school district police, said cheese arrests in the district have nearly equaled those for marijuana, still the leading substance involved in drug arrests.

Authorities say they are just now beginning to understand how widespread the mixture has become and the toll it is taking on Dallas area youth. Even the exact number of cheese heroin-related deaths was not known until The Dallas Morning News analyzed medical examiner records and published the results last month.

“Basically, it flew under the radar screen,” said Zachary Thompson, director of Dallas County Health and Human Services and a member of the Dallas County task force on cheese.

Most of the victims are male, and involve nearly equal numbers of white and Hispanic youth.

Dave Cannata’s 16-year-old son, Nick, died in June 2005, with heroin and diphenhydramine in his system. Nick Cannata, who had been in rehab for a drug problem the summer before, was found dead in his bed in Coppell, just outside of Dallas.

He had spent the day building a deck with his father before going to a friend’s house. Dave Cannata said he knew something was wrong when his son returned home that night, but he decided to delay a confrontation.

“If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up the phone and call 911,” said Cannata. “It’s alarming the epidemic proportion of kids that are messing with this stuff.”

Olga Sanchez agrees. She thought her 15-year-old son had stopped using the mixture. But this spring, Oscar Gutierrez’s brother found the eighth-grader at a Dallas middle school dead in bed.

“He was very purple. He was very cold, cold,” said Sanchez, who had been attending drug counseling with her son since discovering his cheese habit last fall.

“I would like for kids to realize that lots of other kids have died, that they should look for help, that they could lose their life,” she said.

Down here in Louisiana, we have festival pageants. These are usually natural. Most are what we call Sundays best. Which is very little (age appropriate) to no make-up, and dressier dresses, no glitz. The prizes are not that great, you may luck up and get a savings bond here or there, but the fringe benefits are fantastic!!! When you hold a festival title, you are treated like royalty all year round !! You are invited to festival pageants all over the state. Where you will enjoy luncheons, local area activities, all related to the festival.Riding in parades for Mardi Gras and other holidays, going to the festivals, being presented on stage at all the other festival pageants. Recieving gifts from the reigning queens. We have been doing this for about five years now, and just love it !!
