So I decided to have dinner in this local mexican joint (real mexican, which seems odd for Delaware... maybe not) where they hardly speak english so you point to what you want (assuming you can read the half english half spanish intermixed menu, which is cool). They have the tv on one of these odd mexican comedy shows which showed the same long drawn out skit for at least 30 minutes (I watched it through the meal). The skit was basically as follows: 5 grown men were wearing striped white tshirts, blue shorts with suspenders built into them, and white kinda half beret hats (so they were dressed like schoolchildren? I guess?) A few of them had thick black moustaches which totally foils the idea that they might be children, not to mention they were fat, tall, and in their 50's. There is a fellow, a fat nincompoop "the principal" and a matronly woman "the teacher". The teacher took turns calling on the kids, who act like smart asses (by speaking in childish voices and then cringing) while the teacher would come over with the paddle and hit them on the ass. Laughter would erupt from the 'live studio audience'. This same scene was played out again and again, I swear for 30 minutes. It was so odd and eventually annoying as to make great entertainment. Live action Punch and Judy, played out in a society that highly values its ideals of machismo, with the woman beating the shit out of everyone (and berating the principal). Matt Groening was right on the button with Senior Bumblebee "Que Lastima! Mis Naranjas!"
