I had come across Tom's blog awhile back too, and really enjoyed reading it. It's a good link to share. I was touched by his sentiments, and by his honesty.

The one thing that's still hard for me to relate to, though, is his lack of interest in Dan's music after the Wild Places. And boy, he really came down hard on River of Souls, and I think he said he didn't even give the Christmas album a listen.

I know we all have our own unique taste in music, but it's always been hard for me to understand how anyone who was SO in tune with Dan's earlier music, could not appreciate at least SOME of what came later.

And it's not just Tom. I hear or read often about how much someone loved his early stuff, but lost interest after "The Innocent Age". At least Tom went a little further than that. Seems such a shame to not even give an album a try, but I guess that's just the way it is.

Personally, River of Souls is one of my favorites. There are some beautiful songs on there. And Dan's Christmas album is a classic. But I've enjoyed all of Dan's albums, and I couldn't even imagine losing interest in his music. Even the few albums that I consider my least favorites have some gems on them. There's always something there.

Kelly
