I am glad to see that there are still DanFans out there that share the aura left behind after Dan left us. I have been listening to the last CD, and I am glad to know that others are enjoying the life and music of Dan Fogelberg.
I met Dan twice, with 2 of his wives, so I feel lucky. He was such a nice man and signed lots of autographs. He autographed 2 of my t-shirts. The entire band has already signed one of them, and he teased me about not saving a better space for him. He signed the shoulder. I spoke to him one other time, while he was exiting the venue after a show, and he looked straight at me and smiled, which was a thrill. I will never forget it.
Another time,he also rolled down the limo window and called back "Good night!" as others have described. I wanted a photo with him and he had moved on to another fan. So, I walked behind him and asked a friend to just shoot a photo with me standing beside him. He heard me talking, even tho he was signing an autograph for another fan. He stopped long enough to pose with me. Very gracious man.
I also met Mark Andes. The phrase that you always hear about him is this: "Everybody loves Mark." It is so true. He is a rare gem, and we all loved him. I've seen him half a dozen times since that night, and he is always so friendly.
Jean Fogelberg has been so wonderful to share her stories and memories with us. It is easy to see why he loved her so much. I was actually backstage when I met up with Jean and Dan. She was so down to earth and laughing with the band members when I first saw her. She has a great sense of humor. I liked her immediately. I have come to really appreciate her with her work on the website.
