The MRC (Michigan Residential code) at E3509.6 and the NEC (National Electrical Code) at 250.104(A) both talk about the need to bond "water piping systems" and how to do it. I don't think that the short pieces of metal piping constitute a "water piping system" and I don't think they are "likely to become energized" so I do not ask for any bonding. IMHO
