"First we need to get this beauty up into the barn so that we can ice the leg and I can give her some painreducers." He takes the lead and begins to walk the mare slowly to the barn.

After about ten minutes they finally get to the barn, and the bay crosstied. The vet bends down and attempts to bend the foreleg. Talent snorts and tries to pull away not being able to bend at the hock. The vet feels around and then shakes his head and puts the ice back on,"I don't think she'll ever be able to compete again but she'll be rideable with time. She would make a pretty damn good brood too with conformation like that. See the hock is frozen in place, she may have teared the tendon a tiny bit and this can cause it to lock in place like that.(I don't know for sure but why not! lo1!)" He runs through more checks quickly finding the mare a bit bruised but for the most part okay. He gathers his things and hands a tube of paste to Kyle,"After about three hours, you need to give her this to make her quiet again. I gave her a sedative so she'll remain quiet so the ice can do it's magic. I'll bill you later. Take good care of that mare.." With that he walks out, and drives off.

The mare sighs heavily, keeping her weight on the injuried hoof. She looked to Kyle for a moment before lowering her head and half-closing her eyes.
