Incidence of a disease means the # of new cases detected in a year divided by # of people observed. Prevalence is the # of people currently having it divided by the # of people observed.

The studies that you review seem to have made a spot check, so they measure a prevalence of this condition, and it seemed to me to be 8-12% across the several studies.

They don't indicate what is the corresponding incidence. For example, if a spot check sees that 8 of 100 young men have phimosis, the prevalence is 8%, if of these 8 men, 2 developed phimosis in the last 12 months, the incidence is 2%.

And what's more common, primary phimosis or phimotic ring? If primary phimosis is the most common, the majority of men in the studies you review should have this milder form, and so they wouldn't probably ask for treatment during some years, if they had not been included in the study. Do you agree?

I would also like to know, what's the percentage of young men in large cohorts of non-circumcised men, who will voluntarily ask for treatment for phimosis in a given year.
