I don't believe enough forethought went into the petting zoo on Canada Day. Animals unaccustomed to being handled were set out on a busy street for 5 hours, in the midday sun, with little shelter or privacy. Only the geese had access to water. The chicks all huddled in the back of their wire cage, as far as they could get from the wide open door; to me this made clear they did not wish to be picked up by children. There was no attendant nearby.

Perhaps next year we could invite the Humane Society out, and show domesticated animals, in the lobby, indoors?

I believe that the petting zoo was the complete resposibility of the Petting Zoo - if that makes sense. When I was there I didn't see that scene that you discribe, but that was earlier in the day. Sounds to me like things changed later on! I agree that those conditions sound dreadful and that we should consider our options next year. Thanks for your input!

Cheers,
Hugh
