Hi,

I emailed Chicago Public Library and ask this question:Do you hire(librarian positions) Canadian citizens? If so what are your policies and regulations?
Here is their reply: The Chicago Public Library is a department of the City of Chicago and hiring is handled through the City's Department of Personnel. We encourage you to explore the extensive information on professional, technical and clerical job postings and the application process that can be found on their website at https://w19.cityofchicago.org/servlet/DopServlet?op=listjobs#.
Choose the link "Proof of Eligibility" for information about working in the USA.

For information on professional and para-professional positions at Chicago Public Library, please visit our website at www.chipublib.org. From "General Information" select "Job Opportunities at CPL."

I checked the "Proof of Eligibility" link and it says:United States federal law requires that all employers, including the City of Chicago, require job applicants to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States of America.

Acceptable form of proof includes a U.S. Passport, Certificate of U.S. Citizenship (INS form N-560 or N-561), U.S. Social Security Card, Certificate of Naturalization, Alien Registration Receipt Card with photograph (INS form I-131 or I-551) or a Voter's Registration Card. For more information, contact the U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Nothing here say anything about Canadians or do I need to to change my glasses?
Any input is appreciated because I am confused.

My friends were told by the person at the booth they only hire US citizens. Meanwhile they were interviewed by all the other libraries at ALA 2005, just not Chicago PL.
