that the actor who played Tywin Lanister on GOT plays the rich old uncle. He's almost unrecognizable with the white curly hair!

I think that the general story line (no spoilers) is one that has been used in other shows and movies so that is probably why there is a hint of familiarity if you have not read the book or seen another adaptation.
