Nomadland, the big winner. Frances McDormand could not BE more depressing, slow or angry in this sad tale. The story gave its audience a rare view into the lifestyle and psyche of the homeless/jobless, whether by choice or bad luck. She has relatives and friends who care about her, but she just can't stay put or stay in touch with them for long. Not my type of movie, but I can see why the film's unique approach won it the Oscar.

kind of a dour person anyway, so these outlier roles suit her unique talents. And yes, it sounds deliciously depressing.
