Admission: $5.00 per Guest Children 12 Years and Under: $3.00 Programs: $5.00
One parent admitted w/ contestant. Everyone else must pay. No exceptions! Please tell your guests!

Registration: 8:00 AM On Stage Competition: 9:00 AM
5 – 6 Years Short Pageant Dress Tiny Miss Mardi Gras of SWLA
7 – 8 Years Short Pageant Dress Petite Miss Mardi Gras of SWLA
9 – 10 Years Long Pageant Dress Little Miss Mardi Gras of SWLA
11 – 12 Years Long Pageant Dress Deb Miss Mardi Gras of SWLA
13 – 15 Years Long Pageant Dress Teen Miss Mardi Gras of SWLA
These Divisions will compete in On Stage Modeling Presentation, only. They will be scored on Beauty, Modeling/Poise and Overall Appearance. The new Queens of these Divisions are required to return for the afternoon pageant and be introduced.

18 – 23 Years Suit/ Long Formal Dress Miss Mardi Gras of SWLA
These Divisions will compete in Interview (5 minutes), Mask Contest, On Stage Introduction and Modeling Presentation. Contestants will be scored on Knowledge of Mardi Gras and Information Contained in Bio, Conversational Ability, Poise, and Overall Appearance for Interview. The Mask Contest will be scored for Overall Beauty of Mask, Originality and Use of Theme and Presentation. Stage Competition will be scored on Introduction Content and Delivery; Beauty, Modeling/ Poise and Overall Appearance. Mask scores will not be included in final score for Queen and Alternates.

Mandatory Rehearsal: Friday, January 13, 2006: BE PROMPT!
Bring your competition shoes! Dress casual.
Tiny – Teen Miss: 4:30 – 6:00 PM Junior and Miss: 6:00 – 7:30 PM

Awards
Queens: Beautiful Mardi Gras Crowns, Monogrammed Banners, Custom Trophies; introductions and participation in various events and parades of the 2006 Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana Celebration and the 2007 12th Night Presentation. Miss Mardi Gras of SWLA will compete in the 2007 LAFF Queen of Queen’s Pageant.

Ad Ambassador Queen
The contestant selling the most Mardi Gras of SWLA Program Ads will be crowned the 2006 Ad Ambassador Queen and will receive a Beautiful Crown, Monogrammed Banner, Mardi Gras gift and VIP Tickets to the 2006 Gala. She will also be invited to participate in, and be introduced, at several of the 2006 Mardi Gras events. Must have at least $500.00 in sales to qualify. Please use the attached letter to take your ad orders. Make as many copies as you will need. Receipts will be mailed to Contributors. Ad deadline is December 30, 2005. All contestants selling at least $400.00 in ads will be recognized on stage during the pageant and awarded a beautiful crown. Please advise me if you are planning to sell ads.

General Rules and Information
Contestants must be a resident of Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis, Allen or Beauregard Parishes, only. You must be the age of the Division that you compete in on the day of the pageant. No bumping or grace periods. No Exceptions! Scores will not be posted. A self addressed stamped envelope must be provided with entry form for scores. No food or drink in dressing area or auditorium, Only one person in dressing area per contestant to assist. Modeling formation will be a basic “T”, one “X” in back and three across the front of stage. Judges will be in front of the stage. Bad sportsmanship will not be tolerated. Your contestant will be disqualified and you will be required to leave without benefit of refund. Queens will be attending all events scheduled by Mardi Gras of SWLA, with proper attire and behavior befitting their Title.
2006 Mardi Gras of SWLA Queens are not required to provide a mantle and train.

Miss Mardi Gras of SWLA Contestant must not be, or have been, married, be pregnant or borne a child, live with a boyfriend, must be a resident of Louisiana with intent to remain and may not currently hold any other Fair or Festival Title or have held the LAFF Queen of Queens Title..

Deadline for Entries: Thursday, January 12, 2006. No Door Entries!

2006 Miss Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana

The Miss Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana Pageant will be held on January 14, 2006 in the Central School Theatre 809 Kirby St, Lake Charles, LA. Your sponsorship of the commemorative program book is sincerely appreciated. The monies raised by this endeavor are used to fund many of the wonderful events that is provided free of charge to the citizens of our lovely area and many visitors each year. During this time of hurricane recovery, our celebration will provide a welcome diversion in the lives of many who have been working so hard to put Southwest Louisiana back together.

Miss Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana and her sister queens travel many miles each year to promote our area’s Mardi Gras festivities and represents our community alternately in Washington D.C. and annually in the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festival’s Queen of Queens Pageant.

Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana is a non-profit organization. Your contribution is very important to maintaining the wonderful festival we all enjoy each year and is tax deductible.
