Hi Rachel,

There is no reason why you can't start ponying your baby now. Ponying her along on short trail rides would be fun for her. Not only would get her used to the trails. It would also desensitize her to all the sights, and sounds that she will encounter while on a trail ride in the future. Just think, if you start now you’ll have a horse that just loves to go on trail rides later. There’s nothing worse than taking an adult horse out for a trail ride, and the horse spooks at everything! So I would start ponying her now. But go slow, and have fun. Reassure her that at everything is ok, and that there’s nothing to worry about. You might also want to have a helper that could walk with you on the trails. Just incase you need a hand with her. What you will find with these Friesians is that their extremely intelligent!!!! They learn very quickly!
