Hello!

Keeping your horse's mane in braids is very helpful. I take my horse's mane down once a week to let it "breathe" for a few days, and then rebraid it for the week. The mane hairs need to hang naturally for at least a few days. The braids will fray after a few days anyway, so it's best to keep redoing them often.

I also recommend a product called Shapley's MTG. It will keep your horse's mane moisturized & itch free. For the tangles I use a product called Vetrolin shine, and it's much like the Cowboy Magic mentioned in the previous reply. I just happen to like it better. The MTG does best on the roots/scalp to help the hair grow faster. I've seen awesome results from this product, and it helps with dandruff too. It does not do so good with tangles. For tangles it's best to use a Cowboy Magic or Vetrolin type product. Good luck!

-Megan
