Subject: Bentley's first training ride & paddock buddy
In reply to: DC in Canada 's message, "Bought my first Friesian!!!!!" on 20:29:28 10/02/07 Tue

I had my coach ride Bentley for the first time on Friday night. He is very green, but he was so willing and well behaved. She had such a good feeling about him, that she suggested I get on him. I walked him around the arena to cool him out and again he was so good. My coach is going to train him two days a week and I'm going to have a lesson once a week and ride him in between. I'm just thrilled.

In regards to turn-out, the good news is that Bentley and my other horse (whose blind) bonded extremely well. The bad news, is that they are so bonded, that my other horse is now chewing his mane while they are grooming each other. Is there anything I can put in his mane to discourage this? Does it help to braid it? I want to keep them together, since they have bonded so well.
