I've had my stallion (6 yrs. Jasper x Feitse, full brother to Beart411 :-) barefoot all the summers. The farrier comes to trim his hooves every 8 weeks, and he gets along very well, hooves dont crack etc. The reason is that the stallion is used as a bijboek breeding stallion here in Finland, and servicing is done by natural cover, so naturally cant have shoes on to prevent injuring the mare.
Only has shoes on in wintertime when its icy and slippery, and no problems :-)
