Subject: Training

I have a 3 yr. old gelding.....on the lazy side which I don't mind. My question is, should I have him canter? I can get a walk and trot out of him but the cantering is another story.
I was taught when starting young horses to get them to do all 3 gaits right away or sometimes you get a fussy transition when you do decide to have them canter at a later date. I am starting him VERY SLOW! Just not sure if it is important with the Friesian? He is the first Friesian I have started. Janaye
