Ive been hanging around for a while now, but not posted anything!! Like Alex, I too live in the UK. Wessel is a beautiful stallion, which yes, is used for crossbreeding over here, and his foals are very nice indeed.
In the UK, we do not currently have an approved stallion for breeding our Friesian mares, so for eligible FPS foals, we need to import fresh or frozen semen, along with the associated AI costs. Wessel is certainly, at this time, the best Friesian stallion offered at stud for crossbreeding, or breeding Friesian mares for biiboek papers. There was no intention for anyone to be mislead by his name being that the same of the previous approved stallion 'wessel', its just a popular dutch name! Currently, good friesians are still hard to come by in England - I import from Holland, in the hope to raise some quality over here, and I'm aware that Alex has done the same. Maybe one day our association FHAGBI may organise a syndicate or something for an approved stallion to be bought over here.....who knows!!!
