I have owned my mare since she was 6 months old, and she has always been barefoot. Now, at 7 years old, she does 1st level dressage, jumps 2'9", hacks on the road and rocky trail, all comfortably barefoot. So, it can be done! You can see her at http://www.freewebs.com/princessdaatje

Good luck with your barefoot horse keeping!
