I am a wiccan and proud of it too. I work in my local theatre in cheltenham as a domestic to fit around my studies. Everyday to work I will wear my darkside t-shirts and have one with the united nations state ment witchcraft is legal. I have never gone around ramming it down any ones throte and keep what I am private but I wont either feel ashamed what I believe in either.

One of the girls I work with notice what was writtin on my top and asked what it meant so I told what I was and that I was a whitch she looked at me as if I had gone with the fairy folk. I do not think that she beleved me and said are you out of harry potter.

I have too when waiting for the bus back home had little old ladys and others ask me what is on my top so agin I explan. I then I get them smiling and thinking that I am out of a mythical book.

This really gets up my nose alot and if I was a chritian, seek, hindu or a muslim I would be taken seriously. It saddens me so much that socity do not take myself or others like me seriously or our belife system.

I hope one day and I think it will be a long time before we are ever taken as a serious religion.

Love and blessing to all

Katie (silver moon willow)

It takes courage to be so open in the face of misconceptions, and perhaps you will find yourself in a position to change some of those misconceptions.

Zenwind, Lady Greenwood and Earth-Fire have said it... and perhaps you will be helping educate some curious folk too, even if it doesn't seem like it at the time I'm sure some will go away and will be affected by what you tell them in a positive way :)

"sticks and stones..." honey - stay strong and don't worry what strangers think!
((((hugs)))) and Blessings

Yep. I agree with what already has been said. Just realise most people are not aware of the things you are and let it go.

Someone said to me yesterday something along the lines of:

'for someone who has a degree and who seems to have a lot of common sense am surprised you are a buddhist and a sucker for all that mumbo jumbo'

Of course a) he has no idea what buddhism actually is (and ditto would be the same of all spiritual paths) and he could not even define the mumbo jumbo he was referring to and b) how blimmin' cheeky to negate someone's experiences of life like that. GR and triple GRRRRR.

Alas and unfortunately, It is something we've had to deal with for a long time.

Although witchcraft has been legal in the U.K for over fifty years now, The Abrahmic religions have yet to take that on board.

Be yourself, dress as you wish, we need all the individuality we can get to dispell the Shakesperean image of the Witch.

Blessings and Light

Thankyou all so much for your support it means alot to me. It is great to know that I am not alone in this world and will always be proud of what I am. Had this thought the other that maybe I should go in to work with a ponted hat and black claok and then stick a pimple on my nose and then over myself to act in some shakes spears play
