] Date Posted: 15/05/07 9:00 In reply to: whitewolf 's message, "Egyptians, not Greeks were true fathers of medicine" on 10/05/07 22:21 I used to work for an Egyptian heart surgeon a number of years ago who was a Professor. He used to travel the globe giving lectures and presentations amongst the many other things he did. He had so much information on Egyptian medicine including a table of hierarchy. They actually had the equivalent of our grades and ranks right up to Consultant. They had instruments that are not dissimilar in design to the ones we use today and they treated a number of ailments. As he was a heart surgeon, he was particularly interested in this side of things and apparently, they discovered, via examination of a number of mummies, that they too suffered from heart disease and it was linked to the rich. This was because of their diet and they also used to smoke! Nothing much changes eh? Anyway, fascinating subject WW, thank you for sharing it.
