seems like lately there has been an anti-romantic love feel in the garden. no doubt i have watered that weed myself. but i was just thinking about that warm fuzzy tingle that-LOVE- brings

-forgeting not to smile- singing hello to an absolute stranger-anticipation...

Valentine has become a pointless day in which insecure people have to validate the integrity of their relationship by receiving or buying some stupid perfunctory gift and making a big scene about it.
Lame.

hey Ash
a sentiment i can totally relate with and in fact there was a time when i would have whole-heartedly agreed.
however
this year i decided to celebrate the death of a clergyman, whose only crime was join in matrimony prospective Roman soldiers, by tapping into the collective attention to LOVE
so many of Gaias grubs were pouring their energy into on the 14 of this month.
it was great-gg

Ash

Of course it is certainly a 'hallmark' holiday these days and the marketing rather obscene - commercial - a far cry from chaucer's reference. In Finland (my other half 100% finnish) it is a 'friends' day - I like that. I find the history of these things and how they are observed globally fascinating. In a part of Norfolk, where a friend grew up -they have a Jack Valentine who leaves presents for children. She was scared of him when she was growing up but the local village continues the tradition to this day. Such a varied and rich yet often polluted cultural world we live in.

this is a very judgemental comment and a sweepint statment and not true for everyone. valeintines day has routes in Greco-Roman pagan fertility festivals and the medieval notion that birds pair off to mate on February 14.

in my culture Kamadev is the lord of love. we used to look down on valentines day because of how the west commercialises it. but that is just the superficial part you don;t have to support. now we have valentines day in the east it has made people remember the hindu traditions of love long forgotten and recently frowned upon. in fact valentines has helped ease the repression that came along with the forgotting of ancient traditions of love.

so valentines is great to me at least!!!
