Last night I stumbled upon a blog about Dan that I had never seen before. It's written by Jon Asher, one of Dan's bandmates from The Coachmen. It's written as a tribute to their friendship, and in it he shares some of his memories of Dan, along with some old photos. I was kinda blown away by it.

And then there was more....his blog led to a site created by another old bandmate, Terry Walters. It's about the Art & Music of The Coachmen. It looks like it's a work in progress....but what he has so far was pretty interesting - there's a photo page with paintings by Dan and Jon, and a music page with recordings of Dan playing and singing in Terry's basement.

This is a link to the first page of Jon's blog (to read from the beginning, start at the bottom):

Wow Kelly...great find. Thanks so much for sharing this.
I enjoyed it so much. Can't wait to see the book Jean is talking about doing on Dan's paintings and writings.

What a treasure trove, Kelly! I didn't understand at first that there are 11 blog posts there, that you need to click on each of the months. And the music was interesting, to hear his teen-aged voice.

Yeah, I hope everyone realizes that, and finds all the posts. I posted the link to the first page so folks could read from the beginning. Didn't want you to miss the first blog post, because it sets the tone for the rest.

Loved reading Jon Asher's memories. Seems they had quite a close friendship. And to hear Dan playing tunes in the basement is so cool. I think it's awesome that these guys have chosen to share these things. My thanks to them.

Wow, Jon has added a few entries to the August blog list. The Coachmen was not your average high school band. The list of acts they opened for is pretty impressive:

The Cryan Shames
The Buckinghams
American Breed
Dave Clark Five
Paul Revere & The Raiders
The Box Tops
The Hollies
The Yardbirds
The Youngbloods
The Turtles
The Who

Did anyone else notice the photo of Dan playing Cyrano de Bergerac at 1:33 in the YouTube video posted in the Aug 17 blog?

Yeah, saw that, but didn't pick up on the Cyrano connection until you mentioned it. Duh....I was thinking pirates...LOL. So, if Dan is Cyrano, who is Jon supposed to be?

Though initially I was expecting there to be more of Dan in the video (of course), I ended up really enjoying it. It's a perfect choice of song, and it was fun to watch. Takes you back to those long gone teenage days. And it was interesting to learn a little more about Jon and see his changes through the years.

I followed it to his YT channel and also watched a few other videos. Loved the one of he and his wife. He's very good at conveying a message with pictures and song - just gives you a nice feeling about them. They seem like good people. And they're dog lovers too! They have an online store that sells hiking and outdoor gear for dogs:
