Jean posted another new picture with a story in the picture section. Did anyone else play that game? I did at school, the house roof was too high.

Jean has a great sense of humor and fun. My brothers and sister and I played roof ball also, but we used a red rubber ball the size of a basketball. Much quieter, but harder to catch. We also just played "Throw it over the house." Mothers develop a "deaf ear" to that sort of fun, and a hypersensitive ear to danger, bad language, and croupy breathing in the middle of the night. This picture looks like it might have been taken when the photos for "The First Chrismas Morning" were taken.

It's a beautiful photo, and as always, Jean is a great story-teller. But did anyone else sort of wish there was one of those small insert photos in the corner, with the the Fogelberg boys playing roof ball in the yard, and their mom peeking out the back window? :-)

Mary, your description of a mother's ear is perfect. I can relate.

We played roof ball as kids too, with any ball we had available....basketball, baseball, tennis....whatever we hadn't lost yet. And my kids still play it now and then. It's one of those simple games we thought we made up as kids when there was nothing else to do. Funny to realize how universal it really is. We weren't so clever afterall.

Jean also posted holiday cards that she created for the PCF. Did you all see them? They're on the news page. Talk about great story-telling......lord, some of those will really pull at your heart strings. I like the idea of the cards. Totally unexpected, but a great idea.

Thanks for telling of the cards..I can't wait to order them. The stories can break your heart but the one that gave me the surprising joy was the Christmas cards. I was so happy to hear that Dan was doing so well till early December. Knowing he passing just a bit later gave me a some peace that he didn't suffer as much as I feared he did. Jean just keeps surprising me with her strenght. I hope all she is doing is giving her as much peace as she is to all of us.

I know just what you mean, Nancy. I remember feeling so relieved when Jean first told about Dan sailing into October. And now each time she shares another photo or story from the last few years, it brings another smile to know he was feeling well enough to enjoy that time. This one brings both comfort and sorrow.

I admire Jean's strength and resourcefulness in finding a way to take the sorrow and significance of the unsigned Christmas cards and turn it into such a creative and purposeful project.

By the way, I just noticed that Jean's cards are now available to order. She has the link posted on the News page.

I just ordered the combo set. I plan to keep a set and mail a set. Can't wait to see them. It is strange how so many feelings can show up at the same time. Nice to know I am not alone.
