Oh man...I know exactly where this cartoon came from! It appeared in the Nederland newspaper and also (I believe) in a magazine that was published in Nederland called Peak to Peak (for the highway that connects Nederland to Estes Park). It must have been in the early 80s. This is just my interpretation, but it seems like some folks who lived in the Nederland area kinda thought Dan and his music brought too many sight-seers to their little nook of the world, so they weren't sorry to see him leave for Chromo/Pagosa Springs.
