He talks for a very long time & I love his sense of humor!
I don't know if it's just my computer or what but, its hard to hear. I turned my sound up all the way & still had to get next to the speakers. Let me know if there is a louder audio somewhere. Thanks.

Hey Lori,

If you add &fmt=18 to the end of the web address on any youtube video, you get the original uploaded version of it. Most of the time the original version is better quality. So try this link to the Black Orpheus video. The volume is a little better.

What an exquisite guitarist Dan was. I think he could play any type of guitar and music, Bossa Nova on this piece and "Give Me Some Time," Spanish on "River of Souls" and "Tucson, Arizona (Gazette)" where his fingers just flew, baroque, classical, blues--you name it, he could do it and do it well. I read in some interview a long time ago that he could play Flamenco, as well.

Even with the &fmt=18, I could barely hear this. I have a Mac and the speaker is underneath the monitor, so I held the Mac upside down with my ear against it, and even then I couldn't hear well. I'm a physical therapist, and my stethoscope was lying on the bed, so I plugged it into my ears and held the diaphragm against the speaker. Not bad. It was then I noticed my daughter, home from college for the weekend, standing in the doorway. She said, "You want me to get a defibrillator?" The lengths to which we'll go to hear Dan...

hahaha...loved your story, Mary....and your daughter's quick wit. I imagine a stethoscope would work pretty well though, but maybe you should get yourself a set of normal headphones anyway (just so your daughter won't think you've totally lost your mind).

There is way to actually boost the volume if you still need to. Since this video is really just audio, you can use the Audacity program to record it, then increase the volume as much as you want, and save it as an mp3. If you don't have Audacity, it's a free program, very handy to have, and you can download it here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Thanks for the Audacity link, Kelly.

As you can probably tell from what Mary's posted over time, her daughter gets her sense of humor from her mother who might just be one of the funniest people I've ever met.
