It is hard to make heads or tails out of these forums and the reply to the topics. Tony, can you get something done about it. Every reply keeps saying the same thing over and over, hard to figure out original topic and which is new post to topic.
My take on classes. Need heads up classes, but on raceday, have a minimum number of bikes which must be signed up to have the class. Not enough bikes, no class that night. Notice I said bikes, not entries with a, b, c, riders, BIKES.
Breakout classes, 4.?, 5.?, 6.?. Even though it is nice to have 100 entries in a class and lot's of prize money, it is stupid to be running an outlaw class bike in the 6.0 class, just my opinion. Limit a bike to it's heads up class and one breakout class, or two. But if entered in breakout classes, must be in the classes closest to the e.t.'s it runs; or run an e.t. class which all can enter, and only ONE breakout class, 5.?, which all can run. That gives at least 2 classes for everyone to run with e.t. and the 5.? breakout class probably loaded with entries. Going back to the remark about it being stupid to run an outlaw bike in the 6.0 breakout class. I don't understand why someone thinks they can brag about kicking ass in the 6.0 class with a bike that runs under 5 seconds and the win is actually based on luck, but they are against running an e.t. class which actually tests the drivers ability to consistently cut good trees and get the most out of their bike. One thing for sure, as much as I like racing, racing after midnight sucks. Start in the morning racing, or race Saturday and Sunday.
Conducting the race.
I think if you are going to run a race, it should be fair and impartial. I am referring to a and b riders, and sometimes c. It is not fair to entries with one bike and one rider to intentionally not pair a and b riders. I say this even though we have had a and b riders on our bikes and benefitted from the pairings too, still not fair. You should also never have pairings where after multiple rounds, rider 4 should not have to race rider 10 more than once when riders a and b haven't had to race each other, or when rider 5 from hazlehurst hasn't had to race rider 9 from hazlehurst until the final round. This can happen when running a winner loser bracket or possibly, though chances are small, when pulling numbers randomly from a hat or the bingo ball system.
Ready for 2006, gonna be interesting to see what classes are run, how late we race, and who tries to break the rules(hope the ones posted here are current)!
Good luck all!!
