Deb, Forgive me if I step in here but you know I am not one to be shy or concern myself with getting bitch slapped so please allow me to say something here if I may be so bold.

Dan left out a very professional and gracious statement to his fans letting them know the news. He did not cry, whine or lament. In fact, he said that he had very much enjoyed his 4 years on the show and would miss everyone. If that's whining to you, maybe you need to do a little research and look the word up in the dictionary. What you are seeing now is the great myriad of fans who are just now getting word on this and are speaking out in droves. Not just the fans, but the cast and crew as well. If anything, Dan must be feeling a bit like George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life" as people come out from every conceivable corner and place to extend their support and show their love for this amazing performer. He didn't ask for our support but we are giving it to him nonetheless. His web mistress asked for support just as anyone would do in her position. Dan has handled himself with the utmost amount of class here at a time that must be extremely difficult and how refreshing to be told the truth for once and not lied to and given a lot of spin.

You tell him to "move on" as if that's so easy to do. Dan is not just a performer but a human being who has financial obligations and a family to support. If any of my friends or family were told that they were to be laid off in a few months with no income coming in, I would feel terribly for them and understand their concern. I certainly wouldn't respond by telling them to move on as that would be rather callous and arrogant. Dan is an amazingly gifted performer who shouldn't even be faced with this (which is why we are all a bit riled up here). No matter how talented one is in this industry, jobs are hard to come by for anyone. I guess from where you are sitting, it's real easy to tell him to just move on and not care. You don't work for four years somewhere that you begin to think of as home and leave like a thief in the night as if it meant nothing and you will just move on now.

Speaking of moving on, don't you worry. If he does indeed move on, it will be to bigger and better things because all anyone has to see is a few reels of this man's work from this year and he won't need the resume. But you are way off base implying that Dan is asking for all of this from the fans. The beautiful thing here is that he didn't have to. We heard he was in trouble and came running and that was our choice.
