Subject: Dan/Kevin leaving the show...

I have just written to Mr. Valentini at OLTL expressing my
thoughts regarding eliminating the character of Kevin and
the firing of Dan. It's just plain wrong! I told him that
I couldn't believe this was happening because so
called "focus groups" not liking the character. Surely the
powers that be at ABC have not become so desperate for ratings that they are going to allow these groups to decide who stays and goes! It's ridiculous and downright insulting to the viewers! I have watched OLTL since its first episode on July 15, 1968 (I'm 54 & proud of it!) and
have seen the show at its best & at its worst. I explained
to Mr. Valentini that the show is at its best when it concentrates on core and long-term characters. To eliminate the character of Kevin is going to put yet another hole in the canvas of the show ... and with no disrespect to the previous actors who have played the role, I must admit that I think Dan Gauthier is a most compelling actor and has done the best job of making Kevin a complex and layered character! Kudos to you, Dan!
If the show is crazy enough to let you go, I hope that another show is smart enough to snap you right up
Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts.
