] Date Posted: 20:37:43 12/12/09 Sat In case you live out of the area and didn't know it, Harrison and surrounding area has made some infrastructure improvements lately. From Harrison to the Missouri line it is virtually like an interstate now. Divided highway straight to the line. No more curves and "rock shops" to pass. You can get to Springfield in the wink of an eye. Where it used to be difficult travel is now easy as pie.(Heh, that rhymed) In Harrison, they have redone industrial park road into a three lane, with the middle lane being a turn zone. It also has sidewalks, of all things, stretching to near the new high school. So what used to be a drag racing strip, (Tim McCutcheon and I raced against each other in our Monte Carlos back in '73, he won), is now a busy highway with three stop lights. A group of citizens are trying to put the wet-dry issue back on the ballot for 2010. Their motivation is that the sale of alcohol will be a catalyst for the growth of Harrison. Gee, I hope a bunch of alcoholics don't move here. And last but not least Richie Poe, local dentist, has come out of the closet and expressed his love for Tiger Woods. Nah, I made that last one up. But Harrison is a changin'. Hopefully it will always be for the better. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 10:48:55 01/03/10 Sun Well it sounds like growth to me. I am sure won't like it and others will be happy to see it. I ran into Tim at a Christmas Party where he was in the band. He came up to me and aksed if I knew who he was...Of course I did. I have pictures of him playing I need to download! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 15:32:56 01/08/10 Fri I am coming "home" for a visit next week. 13 to 18 January. Having not been home for a few years, I am looking forward to seeing the changes, AND, looking forward to seeing what has not change. As I looked at Harrison, via Google earth, I was surprised, and please to see so many things look just as they have for decades. If it doesn't change, it must be good; or stubborn. Date Posted: 07:20:13 02/21/10 Sun a little news for those out of town: Remember Stanley Redman from the good old days? When we were in junior high, he was a few years older than us and quite a character. I just remember he seemed to always be causing trouble. Sad story unfolded last week here. They found his body close to Lake Harrison, apparently had been living in a cave up the hill from the lake for a while (found personal effects in cave). He had killed his mother with a rolling pin (she wouldn't give him money for glue sniffing) when he was about 18, and also killed a cell mate with a spoon while incarcerated. He had been out of jail for a while, guess just hanging around Lake Harrison. Nobody knows if he was killed (he had massive trauma facial area) or if he just fell down the mountain and died. The name seemed so familiar when I read the story, and realized finally who this guy was. Guess even Mayberry had some undesirable characters. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 21:19:37 04/16/10 Fri I do remember him. In fact when I heard the story (I'm in Rogers, so hear some news from Harrison), I thought the name sounded familiar. Wow, how creepy that was. Thanks for the memories. :o( Kathy [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
