In my view, this is a very difficult one.
Most spectators will follow their own (i.e. one )team, getting to see opposition sides perhaps twice (home & away) each season. A certain player may "have a good day" when seen, then be inconsistent at best for rest of season.
Consistency makes a good player, performing to a level week in week out. Apart from your own teams' players (where biased could come into play) who can honestly say they have enough knowledge to pick a league side, unless tasked to do so week in week out. In fact, it is very often the quite players plugging away and doing a job for their sides on a weekly basis who are the ideal ingredients for a representative side - not always the "Headline Grabbers".
