2008 IRVIN BROWN MEMORIAL MATCH

The annual Irvin Brown Memorial Match will once again be played at The County Ground on Cup Final Day Saturday 17th May kick off 11.00am. The game will be played between two over thirty five sides representing Hamworthy United, and Hamworthy Recreation Football Clubs.
Both teams will be playing for the Cup, which is a replica of the FA Cup and is named after this years sponsor Bayview Developments (Bournemouth) Ltd.
The event is staged for all the family, and apart from the match there will be an under fifteen penalty shoot out, a bouncy castle, and a prize draw. Signed memorabilia from Portsmouth, Southampton and AFC Bournemouth Football Clubs will also be auctioned off to raise money. For the first time this year the entertainment will follow on after the FA Cup Final when the popular local group the Ju Ju Men will be playing live from 5-30 pm..
All money raised will go to help pay for the new Irvin Brown Stand, to be built it is hoped by the start of next season, or soon after. This is to honour a man who gave over twenty year’s service to Hamworthy United Football Club, and to Local Football in general in many different capacities. Irvin Brown is remembered warmly by all those who knew him, and the stand will be a fitting memorial to him.
