Deb, I know chocolate knows what she is talking about. However the 'feeling worse' being explained by biology is too simplistic. As she noted herself, the idea of a biological underpinning is very contested (here is where I would place my self in the debate). I don't believe biology lends itself to make EDers feel worse in the summer... I believe it has a lot more to do with wearing less layers and the body being exposed, fashion, swimsuits, stickness. I understand the science; I am not arguing against the vital role fat plays in the diet or on the body especially in cold months nor am I disagreeing that the body is smart with the conservative, saving role of starvation mode and the slowing down of metabolism when food is restricted. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't misunderstood.
Always,
