Hi,

I've seen it before, that a person has all the symptoms of hypo but blood work showed that it was hyper and the other way around. It is not uncommon that a too much of a certain hormone has the same effect as a too little.
On the weight gain/loss: with both hyper and hypothyriod the gain or loss is not more than about 8 pounds. the stories you hear about 20 or 30 pounds loss or gain are myths.
Hope this helps a little.

Chocolate
