Okay here it is:
I want to say 3 things:
1) BMR CALCULATORS ARE BULLSHIT
(sorry for the language) They are an over simplyfied calculation that only takes some things into account. If you would want to manipulate it and fill in absurd weights and heights it would tell you to eat 12 calories a day. DO NOT TRUST THESE CALCULATORS. A proper calculation would take about 3 hours work (thats what I do all day) and would take a lot of matters into account, a patient would have to fill in a questionaire of more than 50 questions. What these calculators do is oversimplyfied, uneducated and dangerous. They simply assume you are a healthy white woman in your thirties with a normal weight, with an average metabolism (which no ed patient has) and with an average body built and no medical conditions whatso ever and want to lose up to 5 pounds. They do not take into account: metabolism rate, bone structure, vitamines and minerals, thermogenesis, wheter you had children etc.
2) STARVATION MODE DOES EXIST AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE IN IT.
What basically happens in starvation mode is that, because your body does not take in enough energy, your body thinks it is going to die (which it is) the point being: your body does not want to die, our human body has some amazing mechanism to prevent us from dying. In starvation mode your body will shut out any process that is not immediately necessary in order to save energy to keep your heart pumping. On the out side this is mostly seen by hair falling out, nails breaking, bad skin, slow healing of little injuries. Your body will simply refuse to drop any weight and will hold on to what its got to keep alive. Being in starvation mode is very dangerous and will not help you to lose weight nor to feel good at all.
3) EATING MORE AFTER STARVATION MODE WILL CAUSE WEIGHT GAIN IN THE BEGINNING AND WEIGHT LOSS IN TIME.
When your body is in starvation mode and you start eating again your body will take in everything that it can. It will not however start all processes immediately. Your body learned from prior experience and thinks that it would be wise to save the extra food for later when it is in trouble again. This logically causes weightgain. After a while your body gets confident that the food its getting will keep coming and it will stop storing. It will slowly start all processes again, keeping you warm, starting your period etc. The weight will be stable then. Next your body will store a little more to make a 'natural' reserve, like all healthy people have. You will gain a little then. When this is all behind you and your body is functioning normally again it will lose all excess weight and then you lose weight until you are at your 'normal' weight.
I hope this explains things, if it doesnt or if anyone wants to know more, let me know
Love
Chocolate
