Ice Dogs, Hewitt Agree To Terms

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Greg Hewitt, who helped the Cincinnati Cyclones advance to within one game of the 2003 Kelly Cup Finals.

Long Beach coach Malcolm Cameron was the head coach in Cincinnati in 2002-03 and in Columbus of the United Hockey League in 2003-04. Hewitt was 13-7-3 with a shutout, a goal-against average of 2.41 and a save percentage of .913 and named to the UHL All-Star Team before Columbus ceased operations.

He finished 2003-04 in the Central Hockey League with Corpus Christi and also had one game in the American Hockey League with Milwaukee where he was 1-0-0 with a goals-against average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .923. Hewitt returned to the UHL in 2004-05 playing for Elmira.

The 25-year-old Hewitt began his professional career in the ECHL with Mobile where he was 20-22-15 and led the league with 3,471 minutes and 1,615 saves.
