Author: W'ntyr -- Garneth, Elatyr
Subject: A coffee cup...
In reply to: Elaini(Rishanath) and Wylan 's message, "After all this has passed..." on 15:57:14 08/11/05 Thu

No!” W’ntyr’s answer was emphatic – perhaps unnecessarily so. It certainly startled Elatyr a little, and she looked at him rather reproachfully, just to teach him a lesson. W’ntyr instantly reached up (it was a challenge with both hands full, but he managed it) and smoothed her hair in apology. It had become very apparent in only a few minutes that Elatyr would always have her father wrapped around her little finger, especially if she gave him the big eyes.

Rinali became thin-lipped and disapproving whenever Elaini’s name was mentioned, and much to W’ntyr’s consternation, even his friends echoed her sentiments. G’rein’s fierce loyalty to anyone he was close to would hardly let him forgive the other greenrider easily – it was as much a part of his nature as his incessant friendliness. S’peer, who had no real idea of what it was like to have your weyrmate leave you, nevertheless had a distinct sense of honour – so he too was annoyed. L’van’s laid-back attitude would have enabled him to simply shrug off the whole thing, but for the fact that he could see on a daily basis how W’ntyr was affected by Elaini leaving.

“She took your children, W’ntyr.” Who said Rinali was the only person with a simple sense of black and white? G’rein could always give her a run for her money. “Even if she hadn’t left you for no reason at all, that’s really wrong.”
“Yep.” S’peer agreed, looking perhaps a little too hard at the wine bottles held by his three companions. “I’ve known Sally what – two weeks? – and I already couldn’t handle loosing her.”
“She could hardly stay if she wasn’t happy.”
“L’van, have you got any sense of anything?” G’rein scowled at the speaker, who merely looked back at him mildly.
“I was just saying. Besides, I was right.” L’van paused, and appeared to weaken under G’rein’s heated gaze. “She was wrong to take the twins, though.”
W’ntyr remained silent, as was his habit.

“Can we be a family again?” He’d deal with people’s scepticism later.

((I don’t suppose that A’ron could reply to Tath at the Hatching Grounds, could he? I hunger for some fun angst… *grin* How are you?))
