However, G�rein wasn�t stupid. He knew that X�thrall didn�t like S�peer (although he couldn�t think of a reason why he didn�t, since they had only met a couple of times), and he had entertained the brief idea that maybe X�thrall had heard of the other man�s reputation before he had met him. But surely X�thrall wouldn�t believe simple gossip? G�rein sighed and looked up at his weyrmate. �I know you don�t like S�peer, but can you try?� He asked pleadingly, brown eyes wide and worried. Afraid that X�thrall might be worried about the relationship that G�rein had with the other bluerider, he hastened to reassure the other man. �We�re not�lovers. I mean, we have been, but it was never serious, and I�m with you now, so�� It went without saying that he�d never sleep with someone else while he was with X�thrall. �He�s been such a good friend to me. When�� He caught himself, took a deep breath, and prepared to confide something in X�thrall that he�d never had to tell anyone before.

�I was raped, a while back. In a flight.� G�rein said, avoiding X�thrall�s eyes. He had always known he�d have to tell the other man at some point, but that didn�t make it any easier. �S�peer helped me through it � I couldn�t�ve done it without him.� Not remembering the actual incident made it a whole lot easier, and G�rein was surprisingly matter-of-fact about the rape. Finally looking up at X�thrall, he bit his lip � he�d have to face up to X�thrall�s reaction some time� �So can you try to like him? For me?�
