We use a 2S Pro in our MGB. When we’ve entered events that don’t allow the use of average speed meters, two bits of tape with the scrutineers signature across them has been fine (so far). We use a speedo cable sensor (BR1) on the B and a Dividing Pre-Scaler (BR5) on the Royale Sabre. In my humble opinion the wheel sensors are the least desirable as they are the most prone to damage, and reliability is key to these events. If your car has a CANBUS system the CANBUS (BR57) pickup is the easiest to fit but also the most expensive at £120. Halfords sell a CANBUS interface for £59.99 (Cat code: 133879-0) and I think this would provide the required signal, but I haven’t tried this out yet as none of my cars use this system. A sun shade on the top and sides of the meter is very useful, ours is made of foam sheet and velcroed on to prevent any injuries. Make sure you use a power supply that stays on when the ignition key is removed or you will lose your readings when you switch off.
