Hi Peter and Carol,
I have run in a number of previous events as part of the old 'fury boys' team - captained by Mark Fisher. And then more recently with Gordon Hick on the big Athens event (the car self destructed in the first 24 hours !)

I have my own Striker and am very interested to sign up, but I need some advice.
The car is road legal but really set up for pure track driving, e.g. Very limited ground clearance.
I could jack it up a bit without a complete change of suspension - do you think this would suffice?

It really comes down to whether the entire course is on reasonable roads or if there are 'off-road' sections.

Any advice would be welcome.

Finally - I'm not too clear what the start and finish locations are.
I just want to get an idea of total mileage from home in Surrey to the event, the event itself, and home again.

Regards, Stephen

Hi Stephen, good to hear from you.

From the regulations: ‘The start and finish line of the Circuit of Pyrenees is by Saint Jean de Luz, 2h 45m from the Brittany Ferries terminal in Santander.

The route may include some optional sections which may be unmade roads.’

This last sentence is put in just in case it becomes necessary to include a link section to the route. I don’t think you should have too much of a problem. Rising your track day ground clearance would obviously help for use on the road. Those with lower sportscars in the past have either taken it gently or taken an alternative route.

Surrey to Saint Jean de Luz through France 11 h 59 min (785.3 mi) via A28 and A10.

Looking forward to seeing you and your Striker at the Start on 2nd October. And at the Finish on the 5th.

All the best, Peter and Carol

Thanks Peter
I though I read all the info but clearly missed the bit about the start & finish. I have my first track day if the 'season' at Brands Hatch this Friday - which could be a bit chilly.

Once I'm comfortable the car is running reliably (I've had the engine & gearbox out) I'll give serious consideration to booking my place.
I won't have any trouble convincing a mate to come along as driver/navigator.
He will be a complete novice from an endurance perspective but knows how to drive.

Stephen
Hi Stephen, just to say, I spoke to James Miles and asked him what ground clearance he runs with (on previous Guild events). He said centre of car static GC is 3 ¾ “.
