Hi Peter, yes you are right. The starting order for day one is, and has always been, governed by cubic capacity classes, with the smallest cc class running at the front. Then in each class in date order of receipt of entry. The starting order of the following days are in order of how each crew got on the day before.

I appreciate what you are saying, and I agree larger capacity sportscars and older classic sportscars aren't necessarily the most competitive, especially on tight mountain roads.
