A strange ruling indeed, Bike engineered cars have a very long motoring history, any formula looks to take the best available and use this, it is what motor sport is all about and why England still rules the world in this aspect.

Will a ‘cheap’ bike powered’ car be faster than a comparable road car no, you invest a lot more money on the road car to extract the equivalent performance of a bike engine one, an Aerial Atom for example, its just a question of money.

To my mind then this ruling is about elitism, not performance at all, especially when you look at the 2008 entry list, some cars exceeding the £50,000 investment in what is effectively a toy, most of us cannot afford this so look for more inventive ways to achieve the same goal.
