Hi Alex, better to ask now rather than to wait until the drivers briefing when time will be short.

Q: Is there a penalty if a car goes out with a different
>co-driver - say if my car comes in with a problem and
>my co-driver goes out with a driver of the other car
>so that the remaining two can work on the car in the
>pits?

A: From the Regulations: “Only cars with both the ‘entered’ driver and co-driver on board will be permitted onto the circuit.” The coloured wrist bands identify which drivers are with which team car. Red/Yellow in car one, Blue/Green in car two. The two white wrist bands are for your team manager and a mechanic, if you have one. So in reply, drivers stay with the cars they are entered in. And Bex will have to gets her hands dirty, again! (in the paddock).

Carrying out more than the allowed maintenance in the pits…………….…………….….loss of 1 mark

Q: Noise - regs says MOT limit but there is no MOT limit
>as far as I can tell? I've fitted an airbox to try and
>make it quieter and will repack the exhaust for the
>event.

A: The Mallory Park noise limit is 105dB. I should think the only time your Seven exceeded that was with your previous gearbox when you changed gear!

Q: Last lap - does it have to be on the minute. I
>understand that the last lap of each hour does not
>have to be on the minute. You can be early. Is this
>true of the last session or do we need to cross the
>line in the last minute of the hour?

A: You are correct, You do not have to ‘arrive’ at the pits IN control on your minute. You can come into the pits anytime you like, and as often as you like, throughout the six hours. Once a team have completed their 40 laps (per hour) they can come in early and wait for their next hour out time. Do not enter the OUT control early or you will be exceeding the 54mph average (no penalty if you clock out late). If there is a tie after six hours your team may wish they had gone out on their minute!

“Entering the pits early having completed 40 laps within an hour ………….…..no penalty”

Q: tyres - can we change them if needed without penalty
>and do they have to be road legal? I assume slicks are
>not allowed?

A: From the Regulations: Treaded road legal tyres must be used (checked at scrutineering).”
That said, there are some pretty serious minimalist treaded road legal tyres about. Check if your tyres are ‘E’ marked. You are correct, slicks are not allowed. Yes, you can change your tyres (in the paddock).

Q: handing over of the card from car to car - Does this
>take place in the pits or pit lane or in the paddock?
>Do we have a pit to ourselves?

A: After the pits IN control drive towards your teams pit bay. Keep over to the right to avoid blocking other cars moving down the pit lane (not the paddock). All 26 teams (52 cars) will be in the open area next to the tower building. Manufacturer name boards will identify pit bays.

Q: Pitboards - can we use and make our own? Can they be
>coloured or would that possibly be mistaken for a flag?

A: It would be an advantage to have some sort of pit board (preferably with your team name on). Even if it’s only the old blackboard paint on ply type. Plus an arrow on the back to bring cars in. Any colour, no problem.

See you Friday, Peter
PS. Bulletin 3 went out 1st class this morning.
