Q: What constitues "more than the allowed maintenance in the pits?"

A: From the Regulations (Item 12): "Work on cars in the pits is restricted to the checking or replenishing of oil, coolant, brake fluid, and tyre pressures. Any repairs or the replacement of components such as brake pads or assemblies must be carried out in the paddock".

"Exceeding walking pace" -
Q: Does this really mean walking pace? According to wipaedia, average walking speed is about 4 to 5 km/h (2 to 3 mph).

A: Lets put it like this. There will be 52 cars and 102 drivers coming in and going out of the pits rather frequenyly each hour. On top of this there will be a lot of cars manoeuvring into and out of their pit bays. The total team personal floating about could be 150. All this in an area between the Mallory tower and the bridge. Alex, would you prefer jogging pace? that's if you don't mind bringing along your medical bag.

Once cars are clear of the OUT control your pace may increase as you head towards the Marshall controlling the red and green lights releasing you onto the circuit. Please just go steady for the short distance between the IN control and the OUT control. Happy?

Peter
