Spike, good to hear that you and Richard are up for 2009.

As for the potential problem of cars not reducing their speed through towns and villages: The need to drive slowly in built-up areas can't be emphasised enough. It is spelt out clear enough in both the regulations and at the drivers briefing. We have been led to believe that the magority of crews are sensible. We have to rely on drivers, and especially navigators, to control their pace and take that responsibility themselves.

Guild of Motor Endurance events have evolved from proving the design of hand built cars to crews becoming ever more competitive. 2008 was a watershed, and the Catalunya-Aquitaine 2009 will have a new format. Less like a rally, but still just as demanding.

In response to the present economic climate 2009 will be a four day event. And it goes without saying, it will be just as challenging.
