Well we went to Jacksonville, OR (close to Medford) and Kent and Ryan raced. They both did good, but was wondering if any of you might come up next year and race it... here's helmet cam from Kent of one lap...

This is awesome video. It is amazing how still the camera is while the bike is going crazy under you. I don't know how you were able to ride in all that dust though {:>). Next year may be a go if the knee and ankle cooperate. It is so cool to hear how the Lord is using you and Ryan at the races. Keep up the good work my friends.

Did you guys have a great time? I bet the conditions were perfect. The desert was the desert! Not a tree in sight, but plenty of sand twisters. MRANN could really use our prayers. They are a little on the rough side, 1 person came to Sat service, and a handful to Sun. Chapel. I was told stories of a lot of underage drinking and some fighting going on at previous races. Also I did not see RUTS Reno. Let's try and spread the light. Elizabeth

RUTS Oregon Race Ministry -- Kent Swick, 19:54:39 02/25/08 Mon [1]

Whoa Nelly!!!

I'm trying to find words to prove to you how grateful we are for the support you have contributed for our work up here. We do not deserve it, but we are so very appreciative.

Thank you, RUTS North, so much for all the investment you have made in us and certainly right now with the Race Ministry. What an answer to prayer. You guys are HUGE!!!

P.S.
I may have done a loopy thing. I invited all 12 chapters of the Oregon CMA's to have BBQ with us at RUTSfest this year.

Half of the groups have already responded and really dig the idea. We could have a huge turn out for dinner and the message on Saturday night. Some may even camp over night.

It may be more than we can handle but I have a really good feeling about it and know that the Lord won't let a good opportunity for fellowship of the brethren pass by when we are all praying and aiming for it.

Anyone know a speaker that swings for the fence? Put that on your prayer list too if you would!

Your brother in Christ (Who lives within me),
Kent

Zack Black -- John, 06:59:12 02/24/08 Sun [1]

Vicki and I visited Zack on Saturday and he is in GREAT spirits. He had a huge room full of family and friends, especially young girls, spending their day with him. He smiled a lot and spoke a little. We went to the cafeteria with him, which he jumped out of bed for. He's got much therapy to go through, so keep praying for him, as well as his family. Prayers are being answered! Praise the Lord !

Zack Black Update -- Doug R, 07:40:28 02/21/08 Thu [1]

Zach will be transferred to UC Davis tomorrow morning at 8 am. Yipee! Lana said that he is making progress in leaps and bounds! The Physical Therapist is amazed at his progress!! He is walking with the use of a walker (he doesn’t use his left arm yet). He is talking very softly. He can say his ABC’s in order and do some Math problems.

So, he will be needing visitors soon to encourage him!! That’s it for now……….Vicki, Praise the Lord!!

Update on Zach Black -- Brad and Teri Jones (Good News!), 08:51:18 02/14/08 Thu [1]

GOOD NEWS!!
Zach Black is off the ventilator and sitting up in a chair. He's also tracking movement with his eyes, although he may still be a little bit zoned out.
Still waiting on approval to move to UCDavis. The doctors would like him to have movement by command like "move your finger", which he does.
PRAISE TO GOD.
Please keep the Black family in your prayers everyday.

[> Re: Update on Zach Black -- Doug R, 16:04:47 02/15/08 Fri [1]

I have good news to report about Zach. I just talked to Lana. He is progressing better than what the dr’s expected.

He is moving is right side very well and seems strong
Dr sat him up and he stayed up (didn’t tip over like most) so he has good trunk strength
Is drinking thickened liquids and eating baby food
Yesterday, Shawn told Zach to give Lana a hug and he did. She cried and told me it was the best Valentines gift she could have every received. They bought him some books, notepad and pencil. They wrote dog and cat and told him the word and to point at the word and he did right away. He wrote that he wanted more apple juice. He wrote Mom and Dad, thank you for the stuff. I love you. He finished spelling his name.

So, he is aware, but he can’t talk yet. He pulled his feeding tube out and the dr told him if he continues to eat the baby food, then they won’t have to put the tube back. He will probably be moved to UC Davis next week. They are hoping to move him straight to a neuro rehab unit, where they will work with him 6-8 hours a day to maintain his left side, to teach him to walk and talk again. I am so happy to be able to report such good news!

Zack Black Update -- Doug R, 06:54:24 02/06/08 Wed [1]

Spoke with Shaun, Zack's father, last night. Here is what is going on: Zack is currently in an induced coma. He is on a breathing machine and hooked up to many other machines/IV's. Shaun said that the bleeding on the brain has stopped and that the brain swelling has stopped as well. A CT scan shows that everything looks to be OK. The doctors can not/will not commit to saying anything positive or negative at this point. What they do say though is that there may be up to a six month rehabilitation process that Zack will go through when he out of the hospital. So, please continue to pray for Zack's full recovery and for Shaun and Lana as they spend these days at their sons bedside hoping and praying for all to be well.

PCGP - Saturday Night Service -- Doug R, 10:44:41 01/21/08 Mon [1]

Just wanted to say "Thank You" to everyone who dedicated their time and resources to making the Saturday evening service such a success. As you saw, there were three decisions for Jesus that night. Everyone was ministered to through the music, the preaching and all the help from our Central Coast RUTS friend, Paul. Thunderhill is the next event so let's be sure to keep the momentum going. RUTS North really had visibilty as this race as we had racers entered on both Saturday and Sunday. It was so cool to see our newest D36 cross country racers at it: John and JD Kane, Steve Rynders and Brent Workman; plus our regular riders Scott & Garrett Ruiz, Marty Nepper, Elizabeth Lampman, Fred Sumrall, Eric Hodel, Bert Clement and Doug Reynolds. Looking forward to seeing you all at the next event.

Crab Feed Wrap Up -- Doug R, 11:01:03 01/07/08 Mon [1]

Here's a great big "Thank You" to each and every person who contributed time/effort and raffle prizes to this year's Crab Feed. As usual, the event was outstanding and really well received by everyone attending. The crab and tri-tip were perhaps the best we have ever had and we received many compliments on the table service. The only downfall this year was the weather which may have kept a few people from attending; we did have more empty seats than desirable. On an up note, we did have a few motorcycle riding families express interest in the club and membership. I am reminded of the Scripture that says, "Do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time you will reap a harvest if you do not give up". I thank Jesus for all of you. You again put hands and feet to your Christianity and a smile on Jesus' face.

California City Holiday -- Doug R, 19:01:56 11/24/07 Sat [1]

Just back from Thanksgiving at California City. Enjoyed a full on turkey day dinner that couldn't be better. It is a bit of a drive, but once there, worth the trip. Had full moon evenings which made Eric Hodel go crazy for a night ride (he didn't get enough of that in Baja). Did both wide open desert riding (make your own trail) to marked trail riding (some very steep rock faces to descend, huh Doug L.) and some really, really great time with friends. Richard and Daniel Hust rode dirt bikes for the first time and had a blast. Could go on and on, but need to save some stories for next weekends Christmas Party at the Lampman's home in Lodi. God bless you all.

RUTS Oregon places in first Team Race!! -- Kent Swick, 00:10:32 10/30/07 Tue [1]

WooHoo!
Hey there-
Thought I'd pass the news that a few faces you might recognize made it through the 24hour race at Starvation Ridge. We placed 26th overall (so we are told) out of 120 teams. We placed 2nd in our class (the club class) which was small, but they teams were experts. Maybe you'll recognize Jered on the left, Paul in between Jered and myself, and Doug (from B.C.) on the right. Ryan and Karl (Doug's friend from B.C.) had to leave before the media session.

I just wanted to extend my deepest sympathy for those who were unable to attend the weekend's trail ride at Foresthill. The riding conditions were absolutely perfect. Saturdays ride out of Sugar Pine was a blast and Sundays Loop 5 & 6 ride was an adventure. The colors in the mountains this time of year are beautiful and the loam is deep. Congratulations to Jeff Albin, Tony Vallerga, Steve Rinders and John Kane as they all successfully negotiated the 15 miles of Loop 6 (and especially Steve as he rode in a very poor state of health, ie vomiting, etc). Special thanks go out to Doug and Elizabeth Lampman for again keeping the group in hot coffee and snacks. You two are very COOL.

Sad News -- Doug R, 21:11:13 10/02/07 Tue [1]

Hey everyone,
Passing on news of a brother from RUTS Reno. This is certainly a time for prayer for Mark's surviving family.

Joel and others,
The service for Mark is at Calvary Chapel Reno/Sparks 220 Edison Way on Friday, October 5 th at 5:00 pm. Mark's wife Barb extends the invitation to any who would like to attend. Mark loved the Lord and many of you know his passion for a great ride and what better way than to be surrounded by those who share his passions.
God Bless,
Chris Shea

Sad news!

Long time RUTS member and supporter Mark Smith is
reported to have been killed while riding last Sunday.
The report we recieved was that Mark was riding the MX
track at Mustang and lost control of his bike, endoed
hard and he did not regain concusiousness.

The good news is that Mark has a relationship with our
Lord and we can thank Jesus for time we knew him.

Please Pray for his bride Barb, his family and
friends!

We understand that there will be a memorial service on
Friday, but we need to confirm the location and time.

The RUTS meeting at Pizza Plus will be ON for Friday
night at 6:30pm providing the Service for Mark is
complete by then. I would like our meeting to be
prayerfull and reflective of Mark. Please attend!

Hey down here from Central Coast Ruts, Elkins Flat sounds like it was great riding, BUT !!!! four of us got permisson from the powers that be at the BLM to go into the closed Clear Creek Area, to check out the trails for next years ride, it was certainly a gift from God to be the only riders there it was Epic conditions, Carl A. lead the trail ride so you can imagine the trails and conditions together made a great day of riding.
Tim, keep us posted on the Rubicon ride.
Take care and God Bless

Foresthill Trail Meeting -- Doug R, 07:04:23 09/20/07 Thu [1]

Fred Sumrall would like everyone to know that on Monday night, September 24th in Foresthill at 6:30pm, there is going to be a public meeting at the Memorial Building where the Forest Service is going to hear testimony from the Chamber of Commerce about the negative impact that the trail closure action has had on Foresthill businesses and residents. Also, there will be discussion about how the Forest Service has allowed many rules to be broken regarding the impact that logging has had and is now having on the trail system. If you are able, Fred has asked for your attendance at this event. For more details, call Fred at 530/367-2497.

Danny is a flat track rider from the Lodi/Stockton area who is in a coma, in critical condition at UC Davis Medical Center. His prognosis is not good. Please pray that God might heal Danny and also pray for Danny's family during this time. Also, Fred will be doing a special prayer at Lodi Cycle Bowl this Saturday night for Danny and has asked that any club members who may be able to join him at the Cycle Bowl for this occasion. Fred can be reached at 530/367-2497 for more information.
